The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will be visiting Chile from Sunday 8 March to Wednesday 11 March 2009. According to a release from the British Embassy in Santiago Charles and Camila are scheduled to have an audience with Chilean president Michelle Bachelet Monday morning, March 9th.

Their Royal Highnesses will then attend an event in Parque Bustamante marking the launching of the National Energy Efficiency Campaign. The Prince of Wales will then visit the UN peace-keeping school CECOPAC while the Duchess of Cornwall attends a performance at the Youth Orchestras Foundation. Their Royal Highnesses will attend a reception at the Prince of Wales Country Club, after which the Prince of Wales will participate in a business round table on climate change. On the evening of Monday 9 March, Their Royal Highnesses will attend a dinner at La Moneda Palace hosted by President Bachelet. On Tuesday 10 March, their Royal Highnesses will visit Valparaiso where their program includes a visit to the headquarters of the Chilean Navy and a reception aboard FF Almirante Condell, the former Royal Navy Type 23 frigate HMS Marlborough. Their Royal Highnesses will visit the Emiliana Vineyard for discussions with organic agriculture producers. The Prince of Wales will then visit the ECOPellets fuel plant in Pudahuel. The Royals visit to Chile is in the framework of the traditional long standing close relations with the United Kingdom and common concerns in such fields as climate change and sponsoring awareness of the threat. Similarly in defence issues and Chile's significant contribution to international peace and UN backed peace keeping operations.
