I have a hard time understanding what is the point of MERCOSUL/R in this day and age. Argentina won't allow goods to flow through its border with Uruguay, it imposes tariffs on Brazilian products, it imposes tariffs on Uruguayan products, and it keeps pushing for Chavez to join which will be undoing once and for all of MERCOSUL/R. The best Brazilian and Uruguayan option is to leave MERCOSUL/R and associate itself with Chile, Peru, and Colombia in the Comunidad Andina, those are the only other countries in the continent that are interested in trade, responsible economics, and progress.
