Who’s in command? is the question political analyst Andres Oppenheimer has asked in his weekly column on Latinamerican affairs, precisely because in the midst of the Honduras crisis, the Obama administration has not been able to confirm key players, Under Secretary for Hemispheric Affairs and the US ambassador in Brazil. Obama's actions against Honduras are CRIMINAL according to Honduras Law by trying to FORCE a change of a CONSTITUTIONAL government. USA Law Library of Congress Report should be read by Obama. There is no difference between you FORCING someone at gunpoint to commit a crime and Obama FORCING Honduras to COMMIT Treason AGAINST ITS CONSTITUTION!

The only criminals in this sorry drama are the Republicans who are hell bent on undermining the Obama administration in a misguided effort to regain political relevance on the national scene after the American people punished them in 2006 and 2008. In doing so they are engaging in scorched earth politics that can only harm the country they claim to love. The report from the Congressional Research Service on Honduras was drafted by some unknown foreign legal assistant who probably has a vested personal interest in the conclusions she reached. In any event, her report (which I have read in full) is worthless as it nothing more than legal sophistry masquerading a legal “analysis”.

If you don't believe the report of YOUR Library f Congress, you should, at least, read our Constitution before saying that it's worthless. Your lack of respect toward our country is disgusting...

To Gigi: Unlike yourself, I actually have read the relevant portions of the Honduran Constitution. It is an inherentlty defective document as, among other things, it contains no explicit provisions for dealing with a President who has allegedly violated its provisions. Hence the plebescite called by President Mel Zelaya for a Constituent Assembly to reform it that was aborted by the military coup d'eta on June 28, 2009 was an extremely good idea.
