Brazilian cabinet chief Dilma Rousseff, and presidential hopeful for next year’s election, said that very soon she would no longer need to use a wig, forced on her since she had to undergo chemotherapy treatment.
“I’m in the final stage of taking off the wig… I’m only waiting for my hair to look more even and tidy”, said Ms Rousseff to a radio station from Porto Alegre.
“I will have very short hair”, she added, apparently recovered from a lymphatic cancer that was diagnosed earlier in the year.
The long time militant of the ruling Workers Party and virtually hand picked by President Lula da Silva as presidential pre-candidate, also talked about recent public opinion polls ahead of next year’s election which indicate a slight drop in support for the opposition candidate Jose Serra, but still comfortably ahead of Dilam Rousseff.
“Public opinion polls are a most virtual factor, nobody can feel very sad or very happy with them. They only reflect a certain picture at a given moment”, said the cabinet chief.
Meanwhile Olivio Dutra a leading official and advisor of President Lula da Silva said that the Workers Party was confident about Ms Rousseff’s chances in next year’s presidential election in spite the fact that opinion polls showed her several percentage points behind Sao Paulo governor Serra.
“We’re building victory for our candidate who represents a model of country that can’t be put back, that can’t be delayed, and which must be perpetuated. We are certain Dilma is the right person, she has all the conditions to be elected” as successor of Lula da Silva in the presidential responsibility.
