Falklands’ oil reserves “to help British economy”, says Telegraph
Under the headline of “Falkland Islands oil reserves 'to help British economy'” the Telegraph points out that four British oil companies are exploring to the north and south of the Islands and that the British financial sector is pouring “around £ 327 million into the offshore projects”. Nobody knows if there is any commercial oil yet.If there is then it all depends on how much.world prices etc and even then at best it will be 5-8years before it starts to flow. As for any royalties-lets not count chickens before they hatch! But if there ever are then first call is build up Islands financial reserves,2nd call pay UK for cost of defence, 3rd call maybe repay UK for defence since 82 and the conflict itself.But all is pie in the sky for a long time yet!
