Las islas malvinas van a ser siempre argentinas. Los piratas ingleses se apoderaron un tiempo de ellas, pero van a volver a ser nuestras.

What is this? Is someone actually trying to spread the idea that Argentina could resort to military means in this conflict?
It is a well known strategy to demonize a rival, scare people with the “mighty” super etendard... fear is used to control people, and it is spread thru the media (shame on mercopress). Please Brits... kelpers, and others... those airplanes are over 30 years old... the sea air and metal fatigue alone would take care of them before the typhoons are even scrambled.
Cheers

I don't believe that this will happen. ARA is interested in the Navalized version of the IA 63 with all the bells & whistles. This is now a posibility since the taking back of the the Cordoba factory from Lockheed. Plus some supersonic aircraft, if not F-18, than a Sukhoi would suit them. Do not discount a national development and perhaps a partnership, or a joint FAA/ARA arangement. With all this rattling lately, it appears that the hawks are having their day in the halls of Govt. these days.
I will not discredit the SEM. They have been well maintained and have very sophisticated equiment. They can surely be upgraded even further. Their weapond will reach their target.

Thinking again... even though these airplanes are the equivalent of flying coffins.. there is one thing to fear, the skill and courage of the Argentine pilots. The footage from 1982 is absolutely stunning, those fellows have balls the size of coconuts.

Greatings from Fantasy Land

The IA-63 airframe already exists. Newer versions will have a more powerful engine. FAA could incorporate a swing wing.

During the SINPRODE exhibition in BA last October, a delegation from Boeing met with Nilda Garre at length to discuss equipment offers. No details were published. FAA has an initial Budget of U$S2bN for modernization. US is eager to make new inroads in the region again to offset the Russian & Chinese aggressively marketing. The French sales to Brazil was a big set back for US defense prospects in South America.

Just talk, but no actions so far, as usual. And if you really believe that the che idiot's are going to benefit from it, forget it, because Boeing knows that argie airforce is weak and worthless. Even the Chileans and in the main future, the Brazilians will dominate you clowns in air power.

Well che idiot, it's not even sure if they go for the French jets. They are good, but the deal isn't closed yet and they are still in talks for the super bugs. Their is still a chance they that boeing will win.

First of all, wars are stupid. Scondly, Argentina is in no condition of going to a war and I don't think anyone can fear that. It is obvious that just can happen. We dont have enough soldiers, ships, planes, weapons needed for a war and the people is against war. No one would volunteer no matter how patriotic they'd be. There has to be another solucion. Lets stop this for once

The Falklands belong to Britain. Argentina will lose again. You cannot win a war when your military is filled with a bunch of incompetant fools. This time Britain will use Tomahawks and wipe out every airfield within range of the Falklands. They will destroy your navy and you will be ruined. I hope that you are not stupid enough to try again.

Only the british bigotrism, absence of any kind of common sense and a lot of isolated brains could make us put in war again. You can read of wary statements at any forum in british newspapers. Ashamed of so childish approach to our problem. Keep those stupid ideas at bay and confront real life.
Islanders need some kind of assurance for keeping their way of life. Many people here in Argentina should reaffirm that right for the kelpers.
Argentinos we will demand sovereignity in a reasonable term of time. Both ideas not necessary antagonic.
The oil&gas turmoil is a british business, and it has a bad political prospect if here in the South Atlantic we don´t arrive at some kind of succesful negotiation. Military planes should be reserved for PC games.
Please, don´t misunderstand this: we in Argentina want a peaceful neighborhood but it doesn´t mean “surrender again”. An error in this appreciation should be costly for everybody around for next generations.
By the way, couldn´t you invite “Old Plastic Face” and put her to work in some isolated sheep farm?

@Pepino- If you want peace leave Britain alone. They owe you nothing. The Falklands do not belong to Argentina. You people constantly whine and cry and demand what is not yours. You are nothing but a bunch overly dramatic caudillos with delusions of grandeur. You started a war and lost it and you will only lose again. Why don't you start some crap with Chile or Brazil? Oh thats right, they would kick you butts.

@Matt

You play a lot of games wars on your play station II.

Argentina can defeat Britain anytime your Army is not so powerful as you believe and Argentina is not so weak as you take for granted.

You have not Idea what weapons Argentina has like in 1982.
You just were so lucky that’s all.

Argentina Army was threaten in 2 flanks, when the war started in 1982, I mean Chile and UK.
So Argentina didn’t deployed all its Army in the conflict.
And made a lot of tactical mistakes, because the Military Junta ant the time never thought that UK would try to send troops down here.

And the situation of UK now is even worst than Argentina was facing in 1982.

Your troops are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan and taking a bloody nose there.

You lack of equipment and a proper navy to fight a war here.

You own commanders recognized that UK was so lucky in 1982.

Even though Argentina has downsize the number or personnel in the force, don’t make a mistake.

Before the Army was made of conscripts without training.

But now Argentina’s Army force has professionals soldiers well trained.

How Close To Defeat was UK in 1982.

Let me tell you that they will be useful this time, Argentina can lunch missiles from the cost and sink the entire island with you on it.

So instead to blame Argentina about this mess think again who is putting your life in danger.

I will give you the name, the Stupid Gordon Brown that seems it is not enough for him to ruin Britain. No. No. He wants another war to perpetuate him self in power that’s it, very simple.

As the saying goes, 'ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS”! All the abusive comments from both sides count for nothing. If the Argentines really believe that the Falklands belong to them, then lets go for it. If they really believe they can take on the British and win, then bring it on, otherwise just get on with your lives, stop whinging, and put your efforts into sorting out your country and improving your peoples standard of living instead of making idle threats.

There's no way that Britain is going to just give you the islands, we was planning on talks about sovereignty before the first war, Once Argentina invaded you ruined any peaceful means of getting those islands.

The main problem is that the people of the islands don't want any thing to do with Argentina, you've treated them like shit over the years. I don't blame them for not wanting Argentina.

No matter what claim through hundred year old treaties were signed the claim of the current people who live on the island is what matters the most. Most argies refuse to even see the Falklands as a country, you think it's a British colony . They have their own government, they choose to stay a British over seas territory. If they wanted to change their sovereignty they could at any time. Britain spends a lot of money defending those islands and they are very great full where as Argentina has only tried to invade them and claim that the own their lands and hassle them in open waters.

As for getting it back via military means. Well i believe that you Argentinians are getting a bit of a bloated head, and im unsure why. You have no means to project your military onto the islands, your weapons, ships and aircraft are exactly the same as you had in the last war. All the British equipment is top of the range, comparable with Americas equipment.

Some people suggested that all of Latin America uniting against Britain. The British play with the big boys, and as such are very good friends with most of the world, their military works with or has trained most of the worlds military. Heck they even trained yours before the Falklands.

The British would defend those islands tooth and nail, It's the stubborn British pride.

Not so sure mate #1

“The news that the seabed around the Falklands might contain rich oil deposits was first conveyed to a British government in 1969. Richard Crossman, then a member of the cabinet, recorded in his diary his surprise at the fact that ”the Foreign Office said that the only thing to do was to conceal the suggestion and prevent any testing“. What the FCO feared was that exploration would aggravate the territorial dispute with Argentina. In public, British politicians maintained a show of confidence in Britain's legal sovereignty over the islands, just as they do again now in the face of Argentinian protests over the drilling rig in the north basin. In private, they were less sure. In 1936, John Troutbeck, head of the FCO's American department, wrote a memo summarising the problem. The difficulty of Britain's position was that ”our seizure of the Falkland Islands in 1833 was so arbitrary a procedure as judged by the ideology of the present day. It is therefore not easy to explain our possession without showing ourselves up as international bandits.”
