Typical. Bribe the population for votes. But note that this minimum wage is only equivalent to £1.75 per hour based on a 40-hour week. In the UK, the minimum wage is £5.80 per hour.

In Australia the minimum wage is $13US or UKP8.13 an hour... got to tell you the cost of living in Australia isn't 5 times that in Argentina...

I commented a few days ago that Argentina is ruled by a “monarchy”. Well, look at the picture how they hold the “monarchy’s baton”, isn’t that cute?...Argentina’s democracy is a farce, they’re bending it w/ out breaking it. They will pass the baton to one another till they die. Technically, Southamerican populist democracies are built in a corrupt way.

But what you find in british forums it´s a lot of warmongering, hate, aggression, “i will send you a nuke”-attitude, as your fellow writers harri or zethe shows all the time.
I have the doubt if they are just children or proffesional agitators, in order to boycott any chance of dialogue. They give the same pathetic image that a pair of our thugs
No problem with islanders, neither with polite british tourists, as any of them can tell you.

A(failed) blockaide of the islands, Stoping children from other nations from coming to visit them. Arresting fishermen while they are working. Your invasion wasn't too long ago either. None of these things constitute to Harrasment?

What a big fat lie. The only thing you can do to get the islanders is to harras them into submission, and you are trying your hardest. It will not work.

If you had read my posts you would have come across quite a few where i have stated that we would never attack, only defend. Defending one's self and warmongering are polar opposites.

    Nobody is “harassing” the Islanders......

We are exercising our right not to do business or have contact with them....

The settlers and the British have never taken Argentina seriously.... That should be clear for everybody.....
At the moment, the British assumption is that when the “Oil Money” starts to roll, Argentina will “Roll-Over”
Well....... Not this time........Today, we clearly state that it will be 0 (Zero) cooperation between Malvinas and Argentina.
Luckily, after some good diplomatic work, the whole region is getting united against the declared British intentions in the South Atlantic.
And the regional strategy is clear:
To exercise the right, at our discretion, not to do business or have contact with Malvinas or anybody directly involved with them ....

    @Frank

You forgot to mention the huge external debt owed by Australia close to a 1 trillion US dollar what represent 125% of your total annual GDP.

Australia is de 11 country with more external debt in planet earth.

So Australia economy is sustained thanks to borrowing abroad like the pomies and Yanks have done for 20 years and now reckon time is calling.

Australia also has also a budgetary deficit, revenues from taxation are less than expenditures make by govt. and are financed by borrowing abroad.

Do you think that this will last forever?

Of course not interest rates and the cost to server the external debt will kill your economy so recession poverty and cut will be your day today word.

When that happen someone like you will say:

Who a country that was rich as Argentina ended up in such a mess, well they got the Brits and the Argies the Spanish. Hahah.

Worst universities 'could be closed', says CBI
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/7811826/Worst-universities-could-be-closed-says-CBI.html
“Some 16 per cent of children leave school in this country without any form of qualification, which is well above the [international] average. This represents a scandalous waste of human capital.”

“Employers fear they will be unable recruit students with the skills they need...

Nearly half of organisations told researchers they were already struggling to find staff with skills in science, technology, engineering and maths (Stem), while even more companies expect to experience shortages of employees with Stem skills in the next three years.”

“The research highlighted worries about the lack of progress in improving basic skills in the UK workforce. Half of employers expressed worries about employees' basic literacy and numeracy skills, while the biggest problem is with IT skills, where two-thirds reported concerns...”

That means that UKI will have to import skilled people elsewhere or move their operations where well educated people reside. May be Argentina perhaps?

You surely don’t know how the doors of these “unis” look like they are not for you mates else for rich foreigners that can pay the bill. You don’t qualify anyway to access there.

Do you realize that education in US and UK is huge business and as such thing your universities are running for necons. And that they believe that education is just for an elite that can pay and the rest has to go to fight a war in Iraq or Afghanistan to gain a loan of 30k to get a basic education.

Your report from Boston College is really miserable do you think that this crap is better than UBA or any other private uni like them http://www.ub.edu.ar/ingresos.php

    http://www.ub.edu.ar/ingresos.php

Here you have some virtual tours from UBA http://www.ub.edu.ar/ingresos.php

Don’t be stupid please only an ignorant can believe that crap. You need a lot of US Unis to start to compare with mega UBA.

In Argentina everyone has the same opportunity to get into a university poor or rich and if you want you can expend whatever you want in any private university.

This is what everyone expect from a developed country equal opportunities, good education, etc.

Having monkeys with money is not my concept of a developed country.

Do you know what I mean? Or I was just using too much euphemism in my sentence?

Until now the better trained in Argentina still are from public universities, so you can get excellent professionals from low middle class families backgrounds and they are recognised worldwide as imminence in their respective fields.

some of them worked for US leading institutions that you are so proud of like Cleveland Institute (Favaloro), Liotta (University Baylor of Houston Texas), Cesar Pelli (Senior member of Yale), San Martin (NASA), Romero (NAZA), etc.

    1. Education in any nation is a huge business.
    2. UNI is not for the “elites” in the UK.

“gain a loan of 30k to get a basic education”

Sigh...Basic education is free, higher education(uni) is what people get loans for. i've not met anyone who has been refused a uni loan. And i don't know many, if any wealthy people who are my age.

It's all silly really, you have this obsession with compairing Argentina with the likes of the US and UK. I've heard your country is a nice place. But it's not a world leader in things. A leader in latin america, yes. But other nations who have been around for longer are simply more wealthy, powerful and have better public services. Where is such thing in Britain, may be is top secret and is well hidden because I never seen that?

What next will you repeat some silly things as that Britain has the best food in the world too?

You said “It's all silly really, you have this obsession with compairing Argentina with the likes of the US and UK”

I have an obsession? You and your media have the obsession to compare UK with US you have to be silly to compare UK with US. You don’t exist you need to used the whole EU to start to make some comparatives. They are more than 7 times bigger than you in any aspect, so you are more comparable with Argentina than to US. UK is not even comparable with the Estate of California as they are far more technological advanced.

So as you say just accept your little place in the world rather than pretending that UK is something it's not.

Zethe: Argentinians are bought up that they are as technologically advanced as any country and that their standard of living is as high as the USA, UK or EU.
You have to remember up until Menem only the extremely wealthy Argentinians traveled outside of the country. During the brief time when they were at par with the U$ the “middle class” was able to travel abroad. That is when they saw what was really available out there. They were also finally able to bring in the technology. That all stopped in 2001 they lost par and lost the visa waiver program with the USA. Now they are unable to afford any sort of technological advances because now it costs 3-4X more than it did in 2001. Actually with the import taxes etc a laptop in BA costs 3X more than what it does in the USA. A decent laptop costs 2-3 mo of the avg ARG wage! So since 2001 they are stuck with old technology and slow expensive internet. It will only get worse as they continue to fall behind the rest of the world. They don't realize it because they can't travel any longer it is too expensive and people 19-35 are generally denied US visas. So the only places they can go are other Latin American countries. They can only compare to what they see and compared to Bolivia they are doing great!
That is why people like Nico are impossible to debate, he is using a false premise and that will never change.

  • fredbdc

It is automatic for the 36 countries with the visa waiver program. I think you just have to go online and register though. Every other country has the same procedures. The USA has really cracked down since 9/11 on visas. It is pretty hard for people from Latin America and Eastern Europe to get one they just don't have the income/assets to qualify. And if you are between 19-35 they assume you are going to stay unless you can prove otherwise. I have been to the US Embassy in BA a lot of people leave crying.

“Google headquarters are placed in 3 countries in the world 1 is US, the other is Ireland and the 3er is Buenos Aires”
What has that got to do with anything? I just don't understand what that's suppost to mean. multinational companys always have offices in other countrys, thats WHY they are called multinational, the clue is in the name. MULTI-NATIONAL.

Also, Google has only one head office, as all companys do, which is located in the US. Google has several large offices around the US. As well as offices in ireland, argentina, bejing and england.

They have over 40 offices world wide. I don't know how much you know about the internet but large search engines such as google require having large server farms spread across the world in order to put up with the massive ammounts of users they get per day. The internet as a global web, is outsourced by it's very nature.

Also, since when is partnering with another nation to conduct a scientific study a sign of technological weakness or stagnation?
Such things are common place in science.

As for the “most” technologically. The last study was done in 2005, Supprisingly denmark was first, US was 6th, UK 9th. Argentina wasn't on the list.

The US often are seen as the most advanced because, while other nations have advanced technology, only the US has the GDP to fund creation of said technology.

Nico. Glad to see your farmers have cut back on wheat production. Of course, the Americans have lots. But can you afford it? And China doesn't want your soy. And other countries that will buy it, for the time being, pay far less. Chile and Uruguay are backing away from you. Chavez has criminal allegations against him at the ICC. Sounds like your little South American pipe dream is about to go up in smoke!!

    @ zethe

Not zethe Google type companies don’t choose any place to have headquarters they make a very profound analysis about strategic places. Their business is technology and knowledge.

Nope the only Headquarter that Google hold in the world are in US Montain view CA, Ireland Dublin and Buenos Aires the rest are not Headquarters are just branches strategic decision and planned and taken in regional Headquarters.

An this drives to encourage others firms to follow as you can see here

You are wrong having data centers in London is not the same as to have a Headquarter.

And about how much I know about Internet I don’t really know, but I can set up a dedicated nix server remotely from scratches in 2 hour including firewall and control panel.

And I also have some programming skills and Database Engineering knowledge.

Lets say that I can create an Ebay e-commerce platform type from scratches alone, a search engine, a backoffice or backend, or what ever you like if you pay me well.

That makes me qualify to have some opinion on the subject?

as for sat alights, the British do have them, built in Britain, its just lifted into space, as we don’t have a spaceship yet, but we are getting their,
but as you think the USA are your mates. why don’t you ask to accompany them on their mission to mars, you might find Malvinas their,

    @zethe

Google has offices everywhere but not Regional Headquarter like Dublin (Ireland) for example. This does not means that Italy or UK has not office.

If this makes someone special, I don’t know but seems to be true under the view of Google Inc. They have chosen Dublin instead of UK as a RHQ.

Is the same as London as a financial center each bank there has an office in Buenos Aires or everywhere but London is the Hub. And for that reason is a global FC Capisci ragazzo?

So doesn’t matter if I list here all office of banks in Buenos Aires with the same name as in UK, London still is a global financial center and Buenos Aires is not.

    @Briton

You made basic stuff for communication purposes like broadband internet access, etc and are made by an EU consortium Atrium subsidiary of EADS founded by German Daimler Aerospace AG, MATRA SA France and Construcciones Aeronauticas SA Spain. You have not any own technology mates.

“as we don’t have a spaceship yet, but we are getting their”
Spaceship? Do you mean a SAT launcher anyway hurry up mates because we were lunching rockets to the space an living things since the ‘50.

    http://www.reconquistaydefensa.org.ar/_historia/espacio/Cohete-Orion.jpg
    http://www.reconquistaydefensa.org.ar/_historia/espacio/Cohete-Orion.jpg

USA is not our mates and never was and we don’t ask anything because our engineers already work there.
May be you need to ask them for some technology transfer I don’t know.

But this drives me to the following question.

Why always Brits think that to do things with US is a plus? Or that you have a “Special relationship” with US.
USA has relation with every country in the world where they have any interest that’s all.
Saddam Hussein also thought that he was special to US.

They have put you in the mess you are now financially I’ wouldn’t sell toxic assets to my “Special relationship fellow country” and you?
