DO NOT TRAVEL TO THE UNITED KINGDOM. You are not wanted in the UK until you have disassociated yourselves from your bandit neighbour!

There is an old saying-something like-“friends you choose-neighbours you have to put up with”. He has a difficult line to follow to remain on reasonable terms with a large neighbour. A Chilean Embassy person in Buenos Aires once remarked to a British colleague-“You are so lucky to only have ONE problem with Argentina”!!

As far as I can make out Argentina is quite happy to interfere in the affairs of Chile and Uruguay. These countries need to develop some cojones. Let us not forget that, at one time, Argentina and Uruguay were one country ruled by Buenos Aires. When will they want their “lost” territory back? And I'm sure they can make up some reason for claiming Chile. They make up everything else!!

It would be great if Chile did declare itself above the dispute and that its a bilateral issue, but one has to be realistic - the interfering Argentines would probably nationalise the LanChile airline operations in Argentina for one, close their airspace to all flights going to and from Chile from Brazil and europe etc - they are indeed a crazy illogical nation at times.

Do you see that Uruguay wants to reach agreements outside of Mercosur? Flights from Chile to Uruguay don't need to go through Argentine airspace. Then on to the Islands!
