Brazilian presidential candidate Dilma Rousseff widened her lead to 11 percentage points over opposition candidate Jose Serra, putting her in position to win in the first round of the October election, according to an Ibope poll published by the TV Globo network. Read full article

    Indio da Costa is a member of the DEM party.

    The DEM party was born in 1985 from a split within the ARENA party - the party that supported the military regime at the Brazilian Congress during the dictatorship period.

    In order to justify political persecution the ARENA used to shoot false accusations against political opponents. It seems the DEM has not lost its ancestor's vice.

    Yes, a first round win is likely. Yesterday Vox Populi has published a poll on which Dilma's advantage is even greater than the one shown by Ibope. Dilma 45% vs Serra 29%.
