” .... Attorney-General Esteban Righi ordered a state prosecutor to investigate “what criminal laws Fugro NV may have broken by exploring, on at least two occasions, the Argentine continental platform,........”

It is funny because they aren't hindering the operation at all, just pissing off other nations' companys, and could even be boosting the islands economy.

Found this - ” .... BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Argentina faces charges that it intimidated a Dutch geological and scientific firm that surveyed Falkland Islands waters for hydrocarbons and other minerals.

An official Argentine investigation into Fugro N.V., the world's largest surveyor of deep water and seabed for minerals, was countered by the company, which said it had done nothing wrong....”

It looks like the survey ship actually works for a subsiduary based in Aberdeen!

    Have you seen his light?

The legal battle against anybody breaking Argentinean law or the UN call for “Non Unilateral Actions” is just beginning....

BHP Billiton has already, after some press and careful cost benefit analysis, pulled out of Malvinas…
Fugro NV will “think twice” before accepting another British contract in the area….
The other actors in the market are warned…

You just keep laughing…Remember… Argentina can do nothing :-)

Think ...better have another look at BHP Billington. I think you'll find that while they've given up their options in the southern licence areas (i.e. the expensive ones because it's deeper) they have kept their involvement with the northern licence areas. So no, they haven't 'pulled out'. Well done :-)

Now, you can have a little play with Argentine law although how effective that will be is a moot point and only time will tell. UN call for ' Non Unilateral action' ... hmmm, where have you got that from Think?

General Assembly? Security Council? Fourth Committee? C-24?

    Come on Think ..... think!

Billiton gave us an “appeasement bone” regarding the South Basin…
We are quite satisfied with it… Wooff... Wooff..
Their “involvement” in the North Basin is not critical yet...
No rig in sight until Dec 2011…
At that time the will be forced to make another “cost benefit analysis” considering their investments in Argentina and the rest of South America ….

    So… Keep smiling…. Argentina can’t do nothing :-)

Hoping for the worst results for Desire Petroleum drilling.
    Sincerely yours

El Think ... I know you can't do anything, it's quite gratifying that you've come to the same conclusion .....

It'll be years before any Falklands oil industry is up and running, and that's with a fair wind. How long did it take to find oil in the North Sea and then set up the infrastructure to get at it? A decade or more!

    Dum Spiro Spero mate……….
As I envision it; the “thing to do” would be to buy the controlling majority from the institutional investors and totally stagnate the exploration… keeping the area as a “ proven strategic reserve zone” of high value ……..

Private minority investors (Brits, Islanders and other Commonwhealtians) will be left to “Rug” over their worthless shares until they decide to sell, preferably at a loss….

That would teach them not to steal :-)

Not at all an impossible thought…. A Quick calculation…
1 to 1,5 billion dollars would buy the majority in all 5 Minnows at today’s prices….

A mere 2% of our cash reserves would be enough for that purpose. But of course it would be best to get some Brazilian, Spanish or Chinese capital to finance it…….

No problem ... buy a majority in today's minnows ... and then there'll be tomorrow's minnows ... there's a lot of territory around our islands :-)

Argies and Serbs make good bed fellows

The delegation of Argentina supported on Wednesday Serbia's stand that the secession of Kosovo represents the most severe violation of international law and threatens the established international order, adding that “a bright future of a country cannot be built in that manner”.
