The Falkland Islands government, like many others, send good wishes and congratulations to the survivors of a potential disaster and their rescuers. Argentinians whine and bitch about that. Enough said.

Only a Malvinist could criticize a good willed letter of support to their neighbours, seems to me like their worried about the Falklands and GB cozying up to the “irrelevant” country of Chile :)

Anything to do with a “unilateral” drawing up of tourist maps showing chunks of Chile as part of Argentina, buggering businesses in Rio Gallegeos, the Kindergarden gate affair and now saying that a wanted and convicted murderer is entitled to asylum on “Humanitarian grounds” I wonder?

Chile only is considered to bark for other masters when it isn't dancing to the tune of Argentina.

    @ CheTheTerrorist
I'm sure if such an incident and sterling rescue effort happened in Argentina The FIG would congratulate the Argentine Govt for it.

Of course if this had happened in Argentina the miners would have died and the incident would have been covered up to protect the Argentine Patron who owned the (unsafe) mine, probably happens all the time.

CheGuevara is saying that the UK and the Kelpers are always saying the Malvinas Ilands are not part of South America, but in this case they act like someone who knows the truth, that those islands are part of South America.

Well I never expected anything intelligent from anyone whose stated name is Che Guevara

“Do you have any idea how many maps of Chile show Tierra Del Fuego as being part of Chile?”

-Were not talking about Tierra del Fuego, sick to the question

“If it had been any other country other than Chile there wouldn't have been any letter”

-And how do you know that? Or are you doing the typical Malvinist insight: professing to know more about a people, country and land, despite never actually visiting the place.

”It's just funny, a bunch of Kelpers calling themselves a “government”

-A Government means any form of civil administration elected by popular vote, so yes they are a government, I find it even funnier however that your Governor of TDF claims to be the governor of Antarctica, the Falklands, South Georgia and South Sandwhich islands, despite having never stood for or won an election in these afor mentioned territories lol delusion at its best :)

“My house is bigger than your “Gilbert House”

-Ah yes Malvinist Political Theory at its best! The size of a governments HQ determines who gets sovereignty? A new one I must say! Well my Neighbours cattle shed is bigger than the Icelandic Governments building, are they therefore not a government then?

”sending some kind of 'official letter' or whatever to Chile, pretending to be part of South America“

-Their not pretending to be anything chum, as I said only a Malvinist could complain about a letter of heart congratulations, I suspect it has alot to do with the Chileans in the islands as well, shows how much a pig ignorant Malvinist like yourself knows about the islands anyway.

    ”What a joke“

-Complaining about a letter of congratulations about a truly miraculous rescue? .... What a Joke

Xbox, how are they acting like ”somone who knows the truth”, if the horse sends a letter of congratulation to the cat it doesn't make it a fucking cat does it?

I think you are mistaken, I believe @ CheGuevara ~12 was being racist and you're trying to hide it. You know very well that the 'You aren't a true South American because you do not have a Spanish Cultural Background' is an often quoted by Malvinists as being a 'valid' reason to exclude the Falkland Islanders from any involvement in South America.

I ve found very nice from islanders to understand that they are in South America not in Europe.
To take care of your neighbours is a logical first step.
As majority of argentinos did, celebrating in every city and town the rescue and the fantastic organization that the Chilean government has exhibited. (a bit of overexposure by the president, but politicians are worldwide the same - Good for Golborne and Sougarret!!!)
    Welcome to LATAM, islanders!

Unfortunately your version of 'taking care' of a near neighbour involves annexation as a logical first step, which backfired spectacularly in 1982.

The logic of the indoctrinated is illogical.

Perhaps it has been inherited from the brutal annexators of Ireland, you know, they have been very present here during our first 130 years.

But don´t deceive yourself with prejudices, we are not bombing and invading countries anymore, only once in 200 years. It´s against our nature to invade independent countries.

Something brits here define as “no having the balls to invade”. Super-logical and consistent. If you invade-if you don´t invade.

BTW, how is your third Afghan attempt (in much less time) going?

As your recent third in Mesopotamia? Er..no...that was for toppling a dictator?...or because WMD?... oil?
I miss the Basra “success” articles on BBC: “because we are more friendly than americans, and we use berets, not helmets etc” Talking about indoctrinated...

But all of this is off-topic...we were cheering our 15.999.999 chilean friends for their success!

You always decide you've 'inherited' something don't you?

The difference between Ireland and the Falkland Islands is 130 years, we would never dream of doing that today, but you lot still think annexation a logical step, just shows how retarded your development actually is.

I think you delude yourself regarding your history, I'm sure the natives in Patagonia would say different if they weren't wiped out, and all the Countries on your current borders and beyond have been invaded by your ancestors for varying reasons, usually to fight a war or two.

You proved you could invade against a defending force of 25 soldiers using thousands of troops, so much for the big decision on 'balls' in 1982, why not try it again?

No idea what is going on in 'Afghan', 'Mesopotamia', or 'Basra', and if you're honest with yourself, you don't either.

You're obviously well off topic, but at least you recognise that, despite the indoctrination.

I just tried to put your argument in perspective. Your country (UK) IS actually invading countries, as ever. Your warmongering is an old british tradition, and many people there and here in this “forum” believe in it.

You underestimate us believing that is a matter of indoctrination. Surely no more indoctrination that the one you have bombing civilians and spreading destruction in Irak, Afganistan or elsewhere. 130 years ago or now.

Indocrination is everywhere. You can read today´s debates about defense cuts in The Telegraph or The Times. Seems that we are waiting to invade. Ha ha ha.

Perhaps you could take a plane and visit the enemy...seems that you need some travel for lowering prejudices.

    Enough off-topic for me.

Ireland voted to the join the Union .... oops! Hardly the brutal annexation? Since you hold us paddies in such high regard, perhaps you might follow our example and drop your irredentist claim to the Falklands and draw a new clause in your constitution stating that only the residents of the Falklands may decide if they wish to be part of Argentina or the Falklands?

Not in your nature to invade other countries?, aye I can believe that, you just invade countries that you don't recognise as being countries and people.

“People of the islands are British or Falklanders”
    Both.

“Is Falkland a country or what?”
Depending on the definition, yes and no.

    “Are they free?”

“why is the UK taking part in this sarasa sarasa sarasa?”
Because as a free people they chose to keep the UK as there government.

    Xbox:

You can be a country without being independent.

An example closer to home would be anyone of your 24 provinces.

TDF claims the islands as part of its administrative boundaries so why therefore
is the federal govt involved in this Tango?

Define “Free”, I define a free person has somebody who chooses their nationality, country, allegiance, government and political status without external, self determination is the ultimate form of freedom in the world.

The UK is taking part because the Islanders have opted to have us represent them on the world stage, and for practical purposes as well, a country of 3,500 people isn't going to really have alot of diplomatic clout against an aggressive neighbor who lusts after every inch of soil on the islands.

Just like lets say Santa Cruz being able to stop a claim by china on its own eh?

    Annual budget: £7.7bn
    Britains overseas aid

What's being cut: The overseas aid budget is to be protected from cuts but not the department's other costs. Budget to rise to £11.5bn over four years to meet UN aid commitment. Aid to China and Russia to stop and reduction in administration costs.

    Argie defence spending
Nonetheless, military budgets continue to rise year over year. However, Barrett points out, “While funding has been increasing in recent years, much of it appears to be going for salary increases to make the military more competitive with the civilian sector.” Thus it is not surprising that several of the armed force's programs have been canceled. With at least 70 percent of defense spending going toward personnel costs, little remains for actual weapons acquisitions. Until the Argentine economy makes a significant rebound, defense-related acquisitions will be limited. In the meantime, modernization plans for the armed forces will have to wait until at least 2025

As I know, “only” the 14 miners of Río Turbio coal mine in 2004. A government friend, the owner Sergio Taselli scrapped the former state-run mine, with the accomplice of politicians (from Menem to Kirchners)

Private mining companies (95% of mines) have better safety standards and labour codes. Best salaries of the economy. As they are watched very tightly on their environmental performance, they have to behave with a world-class practice in every other issue.
