The Falkland Islands government said Wednesday in an official statement that it is satisfied and grateful for the levels of defence on the Islands.
The statement follows claims to the contrary from retired Royal Navy chiefs who argue the latest defence cuts make the Falkland Islands vulnerable to attack from Argentina. Read full article

Think, can you never accept you get it wrong sometimes? Your Defence costs for the Islands are way out as before.£100-125million divided by 3000 is not £3/4million a head is it? The 1st best restaurant currently listed in the world is in Denmark called Noma
http://www.theworlds50best.com/awards/1-50-winners/noma
And you have only 1 listed after Bulli.
And Noma's chef Redzepi was trained in “EL Bulli” 1st/2nd always best restaurant in the world located in Spain (The Mecca of Cuisine) where also where working there many Argentineans as chef like Dante Liporace now working in Moreno Hotel as a chef.
http://www.theworlds50best.com/awards/1-50-winners/noma
http://www.theworlds50best.com/awards/1-50-winners/noma
http://www.theworlds50best.com/awards/1-50-winners/noma
The top 10 restaurants at the moment are not French anymore else
1 Spain (with 4)
2 USA (with 3)
3 Denmark (with 1), UK (with 1) and Italy (with 1)
#11 is the first French listed restaurant.
Seems UK is in the bottom of the chart .
But still normal people eat fish & Chips and kebabs every day.
Do you really believe that Denmark is the paradise of food? Or Spain because has in the top chart more restaurants than any other country in the world and top chef staff come from there now? Or America cuisine?
The Spanish still eats tortillas the Americans junk food, the Italian pasta,
and UK fish & chips.
That is the reality.
BTW the menu of your Fat Duck best restaurant just for only 170 Pounds plus 12,5% if optional, don't included wine.
Sure you eat Nitro Poached every day, Gazpacho and ask for escargot and some croissants avec Jabugo?
Plus a bottle of a cheap “La Grande Année 1999” from France for just only 190 pounds.
You don’t even know what F@ik is that mate.
You are amazing Zethe really.
You seem to have the priblem of being a complete idiot, So i will explain what i said. Again... slowly.
Nov 14th, 2010 - 02:04 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The current chiefs in the world are mostly judged on how many michelin stars they and there empire of resturants have.
Currently the chiefs with the most in the world are gordon ramsay, that french cheif and some spanish one(i believe, ain't looked him up)
I have no doubts that your top ten list is correct. I never once said that the UK has the best resturant in the world.
I did however, say that the uk(as a nation) has the third most ammount of michelin star rated resturants in the world, behind france and italy.
France has about 320 michelin star resturants, italy about 240, UK 230.
Fact's are fact. the UK has some of the best resturants in the world, a lot of them.
The Spanish still eats tortillas the Americans junk food, the Italian pasta,
and UK fish & chips.
That is the reality.
What, on earth has that got to do with anything? that is true in every nation on earth. People eat fast food all over the world.
Argentina’s rates for breast and colon cancer are among the highest in the world. The main type of meat consumed in these countries is beef, of which consumption rank first and second, respectively in the world, with about 60 kg per year per capita.

Nov 14th, 2010 - 07:23 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You said “best food in the world”
And then you try to justify this by saying that French (and you say the best) rank your restaurants with Michelin starts.
So you turn de debate to restaurants with Michelin stars what its another thing Mr. Michelin doesn’t come down here to start with. And famous restaurants are not the same as goo food.
So to show you how wrong you are, I showed you that even the French are not currently the best in restaurants to affirm that UK has the best by using your criteria of the use of charts.
According with the quantities of awards won by the Spanish and Americans they have the best restaurants in the world.
And the meca of the cuisine and chef today is “El Bulli” from where comes many Argies chef the best of cuisine in the world (According wit your lovely charts).
Well now we have establish that your are not the best and that you still eat fish &chips, burgers and Kebabs.
And that you also have no Idea of what your best restaurants “The Fat Duck” has in its menu.
Lets see what you will get there “Gazpacho” just a Spanish colored soup of vegetables, Jabugo just Spanish Iberic Ham, “Prosciutto Italiano” another Ham but from Italy.
And the best of “Nitro-poached green tea and lime mousse” (molecular cuisine) lets say Nitrogen cooking like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeTR890iPcU
And all this (what I know you eat every day for sure) for the bargain amount of 360 Pounds (wine included not specials)
What can I say Mr. Jabugo-Nitro-Gazpacho cuisine expert?
Let’s go for a couple of kebabs and 2 Foxter and some chips with Vinegar from Muhammad corner shop.
How much Muha?
20 Quids sir...
Can I get a free salad?
Of course Zethe as always you do sir.
Haha you are amazing...

Why do trolls do it?
Nov 14th, 2010 - 09:23 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I believe that most trolls are sad people, living their lonely lives vicariously through those they see as strong and successful.
Disrupting a stable newsgroup gives the illusion of power, just as for a few, stalking a strong person allows them to think they are strong, too.
For trolls, any response is 'recognition'; they are unable to distinguish between irritation and admiration; their ego grows directly in proportion to the response, regardless of the form or content of that response.
@ 48 stick, don't get mad at people, just because they don't say what you want, it doesn't mean you are right and they are wrong, and when people prove reveal your lies, you just can't stand it. When people say what you don't want to see, and you can't prove them wrong, you always get mad at them. Let people express their opinions without trying to shut them up. Prove your points by telling the truth, try it, it will help you.

Some of the Best in the world.
Again, i will say that i agree with you when you tell me that the best single resturants in the world are neither french or british, not the top 10 anyway.
That fact, however. Does not stop the fact that France, Italy and the UK have the most starred resturants in the world.
What does that mean? Well we don't have the number 1,2,3 or even number 10 resturant in the world.
No, we just have lots of starred resturants spread all over our nation.
Gordon ramsay, is still the third(or second, have not checked latly) best cheif in the world, and he's british.
The original point was that our food was awful, And while i agree that we dont have the best resturants in world, the UK has the third most stars per country in the world.

Nov 17th, 2010 - 11:10 am - Link - Report abuse 0Actually, the Balti or any other Indian dish is currently consumed in greater quantities by the masses within the UK; Fish & Chips has somewhat fallen out of favour, in fact the number of Fish & Chip Shops has fallen dramatically.
Nov 17th, 2010 - 05:08 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Fish & Chips does have to be cooked properly, and the dismissive nature of many comments regarding the quality of food belies the fact that if you don't used fresh oil, new potatoes, fresh fish, and fresh peas, people notice and don't buy it again.
I only buy Fish & Chips from a Restaurant these days, rather than a corner shop, because it tastes better, and I can get a proper menu of Coffee to choose from; not tea you notice.
In terms of tea, the best tea is always made at home, I never buy from a Cafe or elsewhere because it just doesn't taste good, and I'd challenge anyone to produce a commercial tea beverage that anyone would want to drink over what they make for themselves at home, it's just not possible.
However, my favourite food is Chinese Cuisine, not Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pud, although that does come a close second.
Indian food is ok, and preferred above fast foods like burgers, which have no nutritional value whatever.
By the way, its Fosters, not 'Foxters', and I don't know anyone that drinks it, I prefer Becks, Grolsch, Amstel, or Stella if I liked lager, it is a young person's drink; my tipple is either Guinness, a good wine (anything French), or Scottish Single Malt.
Although failing that a pint of Marstons Pedigree goes down rather well.
