” ... “We're ready to bet on a successful dialogue instead of conflict,” he said, as he clarified that “negotiating means that both sides have to give something up...”

Now there's an interesting idea. In the case of the Falklands, Britain could give up sovereignty and Argentina could give up its claim to sovereignty and that would leave ..... an independent nation :-)

Great idea my friend redhoyt; independence is future and real selfdetermination; as I said many times here: britain is the only factor in south atlantic that can be banned; it´s the alien factor.

Look, we are not alone, also look comments.

Oh dear, Bilious, I did read the comments. Seems most people, even on the Guardian, are in favour of telling you lot to get knotted, preferably with your own intestines. You really must learn to read English properly.

Of course my dear mr.Typhoon that colonialist and conservative thinking is still a mayority; but keep reading, perhaps step by step the trend is changing. Remember; this is a slow process and we are seing encouraging signals.

Billious, I already know that the only real future for the islands is true independence .... for the Falkland Islands.

    Not South Georgia!

    Not the South Shetland Islands!

    Not the British Antartic Territory!

We'll still be in the South Atlantic :-)

Don´t worry Redhoyt; first we must see britain leaving Malvinas then we can talk about the rest.

Yeah that sounds just great coming from a citizen of Argentina the country that refuses to even aknowledge that us Falkland Islanders have a say in our future, you'd get off our backs if we were independant would you? drop your claim would you? what a load of bullshit.

WestisBest; Argentina is the country that claims for negotiations. In a dialogue & negotiation scenario I´m sure that we can accord droping the sovereignty claim as britain leaves the region; but first we must engage in negotiations as Redhoyt and a lot of people in UK wisely are saying.

Good-oh, Billy. Then all you need to do is to get in touch with your government and tell it that the Falkland Islands Government are willing to sit and talk with them.

Let us know the result, won't you!

I will try, but it will be redundant, Argentina is actually calling for negotiations. But to achieve those objetives first FIG must tell UK that they accept and want negotiations with Argentina under an open agenda; simply as that. Since Argentina is calling for negotiation the ball is at UK-FIG court; we are waiting, don´t worry, that time will eventualy come.

3 Billy Hayes , Interesting article

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2010/nov/14/falklands-economic-crisis-politics-argentina

“Ditch the Falklands It makes no economic or political sense to hang on to the Falklands, but no one will face the truth”

”So to the south Atlantic. What does it cost to keep an airport open, defended by four Typhoons, three radar stations, assorted artillery units, with 1,000 or so military on the ground? Don't forget the golf course and swimming pool before you add a handy destroyer, a couple of patrol ships and a submarine somewhere. Don't forget absurdly long supply lines, either.

Hanging on to the Falklands is a drain on resources without end. It is also a substantial irritant to good relations with South America (not to mention an Obama administration and a UN that shudders over colonial pasts)”

No economic sense? By the look of my trading account the Falklands makes perfect economic sence. Don't believe me, then ask the wide if shee likes her treat from the Dubai Gold Souk.

Keep on inflating. One day you may even get off the ground!

Please, please don't take what the Daily Wail says seriously. As far as I can see the best use for it is finding the daily “I'm not racist but...” story.
