A ruling from Argentina’s Supreme Court admitted “Malvinas war veteran condition” to a petty officer who was deployed in Puerto Belgrano and Rio Grande during the 1982 conflict thus enabling him to a veteran’s pension. Read full article
This would mean one less diamond ring for Mrs. Cristina de Kirchner:(
”The ruling is considered a lead case for the 9.500 former Argentine conscripts that during the 1982 conflict were deployed along the Argentine continental coast south of parallel 42, from Trelew to Ushuaia. Furthermore it could influence the demands of veterans that are camped in Buenos Aires Plaza de Mayo next to Casa Rosada (Government House) since 2008 claiming their pensions.” Best of luck to you guys!
The British 3rd Commando Brigade commander, Brigadier Julian Thompson was reported as having said:
I was on the point of withdrawing my Paras from Mount Longdon. We couldn't believe that these teenagers disguised as soldiers were causing us to suffer many casualties.
Julian Thompson was a Royal Marine officer who was in overall charge of British Ground Forces at the start of the Falklands Campaign. I couldn't say whether the quote is accurate.
Mount Longdon was an Argentine hardpoint which they fought particularly hard to hold onto. The fighting was particularly fierce and the outcome of the battle was by no means a forgone conclusion. The Argentines held the high ground and british forces were exposed for part of their advanceon the Argentine positions.
At the end of the battle 19 British personnel were dead with about 30 Argentines dead and about 50 captured. British forces would have suffered much higher losses if the minefield they had marched through to get to the battlefield had not been ineffective in the low temperatures but fortunately many paratroopers were protected by the hand of God on that day.
Correction land forces were under the command of Major General Jeremy Moore. Brigadier Thompson commanded 3 Commando Brigade.
The mistake on Longdon was a quiet attack without the pre-bombardment that accompanied subsequent attacks. I didn't say it wasn't a hard battle, indeed it was, I asked where the quote came from.
paratroopers were protected by the hand of God on that day.
and the Argie officers
Sub-Lieutenant Juan Domingo Baldini is accused of having staked several conscripts for having abandoned their posts to go looking for food, an act punishable by death in other armies. Our own officers were our greatest enemies, says Ernesto Alonso, the president of CECIM, a left-wing veterans group founded by Rodolfo Carrizo and Communist Party-affiliated former conscripts of the 7th Regiment. They supplied themselves with whiskey from the pubs, but they weren’t prepared for war. They disappeared when things got serious.

My answer: look it up yourself.
Did you hear about this report today...all over the news...still alive?
You were wrong...told you so!
Report: Release of Pan Am bomber not medically justified
The report also took issue with the Scottish government's decision to grant al Megrahi compassionate release, indicating the process was determined by general practitioners without expertise in prostate cancer who were clearly involved in political, inter-governmental discussions.
In view of the flawed process, we believe that the Scottish government simply intended to use compassionate release as political cover for returning al Megrahi to Libya -- regardless of whether his physical condition met the requirements, the report said.
Instead of living three months, he's lived 13 months and counting, Menendez said in a September committee hearing on the matter.
He played a videotape that showed al Megrahi walking up a flight of stairs to board a plane to Libya after his prison release, despite allegedly being near death
State Department official testified that commercial concerns may have influenced Scottish consideration of al Megrahi's release.
The U.K. knew that in order to maintain trade relations with Libya, it had to give in to political demands, the report said.

#9 I'll take it from that answer you simply made it up. Margot, Walts like you piss me off, you demean and disrespect your own forces with lies like that. 3 Para happily acknowledge the brave defence put up by Argentine forces, using it to score points on a message board is just cheap.
It took me 5 seconds to Google that long, boring, well documented, British written, militaristic article you quote this from:

If you had spend more than five minuites to check your sources you would realise that the quote is in fact, a long, boring, well documented, Argentinian, militaristic article. The quote itself is from:
Recollections of Argentine veteran Miguel Savage.
The quote is NOT is Major General Julian Harold Atherdean Thompson book.
I seem to remember getting a right old earbashing for using Wiki for facts from...you.
I have not said that the quote was not said on the day, just that the only real(not wiki, think.) refrence to him saying said quote is in that Argentinian book.
Perhaps you should provide some refrences to back up what you say? im happy to. You could always go buy the book and have a read for yourself.
