Flyglobespan, the airline that had a contract with the UK Ministry of Defence to cover the twice weekly shuttle to the Falkland Islands and collapsed a year ago, is facing a £4 million claim from former staff over its failure to consult on redundancies. Read full article

Way to lose MOAR money UK, hahah, and just when you're in most need of it.
power back on master bait?
Dec 25th, 2010 - 04:41 pm - Link - Report abuse 0This was a poor excuse for an airline anyway. Much prefer the early afternoon flight from Manchester to Dubai on the Emirates A380. I recommend seat 20A or K on the upper deck. Just far enough away from the business class bar to get some sleep but near enough for a G&T before enjoying the fully flat bed :-)! Or just sod the main bar and use the in-seat mini-bar.

Dec 25th, 2010 - 09:09 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Boring decadent capitalistic commercial flight experience…………
During the 70’s; SU fishing crews returned to SVO from BUE on those classic and luxurious II-62’s.
Typically, between REC and SAL the men got bored and began to miss that “gentle South Atlantic rolling motion” they were so comfortable with.
As good Stolichnaya fueled proletarians; they instinctively organized themselves in a working brigade.
With no warning, as one man, those 40/50 wee lads sporadically sprinted back and forth the alley, generating 45 degrees stallings that provided true socialistic fun to all of us……
Better rollercoaster than DES, for sure :-)
If you think it is boring Think then you should have heard some of the conversations I have had after turning left on embarkation.
Dec 26th, 2010 - 08:25 am - Link - Report abuse 0From BWN-SIN I had a jolly conversation with the Sultan of Brunei's 747 pilot who was en-route to Hamburg to pick up the Royal Aircraft. I also had a great conversations when flying to Uganda (with miners going to the DRC usually). It is amazing the things you find out about the world. One miner I met flying from Amsterdam to Nairobi was half Colombian and we had a good chat about the drilling in the Islands, he never used the M word funnily enough!
All together a much more refined and illuminating experience and the free champers is a bonus.
Yeahh…. Travelling can open one’s mind.
Dec 26th, 2010 - 10:41 am - Link - Report abuse 0If one, by travelling means mingling, and not just trans-porting........
By the way…….., why I earth should a polite half Colombian, conversing on a plane with a friendly stranger from Britain, feel compelled to use the M (alvinas) word?
I wouldn’t………..
You say:
“All together, a much more refined and illuminating experience.”
Risking sounding too philosophical, I say:
Refinement and illumination are, all, all too often, on divergent courses.
However……. What can I know Mr. Beef ?..... I’m from Argentina….. :-)
I have a problem with the concept of straight lines. Life is a fragmented experience.
Dec 26th, 2010 - 09:30 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You are the one Argentine on these forums I actually admire Think. But remember, you only live life once and it is not a sin to enjoy the good things life offers. As long as you acquire them while caring for your fellow man (regardless of his nationality, race, religion or sexual orientation).
Peace and a happy new year.
