It is unfortunate and shameful that, after centuries, USA continues to side with others far away than to join those in AMERICA DEL SUR (same continent, Hello!!!) Needless to say, the US government has not learned from its “friends” in Europe and Asia, that have more poured assistance, and capital in Latinamerica, creating a welcome pad for all those countries, instead of the “gringos” who are always treating us like the “step brother”, and only running to us when they need us. Mr. Obama, everyone here thought you would do better than Mr. Bush!

    C. Wright Mills wrote a book shortly after Fidel Castro took over Cuba; he called it “Listen Yankee” and his thesis was that the U.S. for too many years considered all of Latin and South America as its sphere of influence and “looked over” the people of that area not as Brothers and Sisters, but rather as children who needed our guidance. A great opportunity was missed at that time for us to reach out to support and understand another country`s people in their efforts to improve their conditions. All peoples have hopes for a better life.

What a bunch of hooey. Why do Latin Americans think the USA should “pour assistance and capital” into their countries or “support and understand” them. Since it's inception Latin Americans leaders have been corrupt liars fleecing their people at every turn. What have they ever offered the USA in return for any support? We don't need anything you have and never will. Latins are weak and dishonorable that is why we choose to deal with the countries we do.
I see a huge problem coming shortly with your Chinese “support”. They are a ruthless people and they are buying up oil and food supply around the world because they don't have enough for their own people. What do you think will happen when Argentina has a drought the same time as China and both need to feed their own people? China will take the food and leave Argentina to starve. Same with the oil reserves. China is not like the USA and UK, they have no compassion for their own people much less someone else if they own it they will take it and no one will be able to tell them differently. Watch and see.

Duglas, please explain how any of that is possible when the U$ is the worlds reserve currency and the Euro zone is most likely breaking up in the next couple of years? Do you think China would ruin their economy to briefly trouble ours? Does anyone in Latin American take a logic course? What a bunch of nonsense.
BTW we sell more farm products and technology to China that the whole rest of the world.
Try actually reading something other than liberal newspaper headlines. retard.

HTCTR............have no worries. Fred has vision problems. He has a flag stuck in his eye.
When a flag is stuck in your eye it is difficult to see the cliff that lies just ahead.
I saw it when Fred went to The Bush X2, in 2004. It's a VERY tall cliff !
Yo soy gringo pero vive en CR ahora. Yo tengo una finca en Chile tambien

    @fredMex

Where did you get all that stuff FredMex?

I told you to stop watching the Glenn Beck Show it is for stupid and retards.

So here my best advised for you:

1-Burn your holly Bible it is a scam.
2-Stop wasting your time in the church on Sundays singing “Come up to the mountain” or whatever shit your use to sing.
3- Burn all those pics of Reagan, Bush father and son don’t worth the paper on what was printed and they looks quite Cuates.

    About China,

“China is not like the USA and UK, they have no compassion for their own people much less someone else if they own it they will take it and no one will be able to tell them differently”

Really? Do you mean compassion like UK had with China in the Opium wars, in India, in Africa or when US dumped 2 A-bombs in Japan, in Vietnam, Korea or like Bush in Iraq or Afghanistan?

Where is your compassion for your own mates living in tent in US? ah! yes you have to save your lovely bankers and WS crooks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnnOOo6tRs8

Who do you want to cheat mate?

UK & US are like Dr. Frankenstein, They cannot control their own creatures. Haha

Don’t worry never any Asian country was a threat to us but you can always buy some Chinese cheap Gel from Walmart and judging from the size of the Chinese’s condoms wouldn’t hurt you so much.

Relax your life will be full of happiness or Japi ness haha

Mean while we will keep feeding your creature. So don’t worry she pays very well.

    : )

I agree with Fred that the US has no obligation to assist LatAm countries, financially or otherwise. Aid only makes the recipient countries more vulnerable to political exploitation by the donating ones. And even though there are examples of countries that have benefited from US aid in both the short and the long terms - most prominently South Korea and Taiwan - in most 3rd World countries, loans taken from developed nations has had catastrophic effects on economic development. Any change in borrowing conditions - for example, an interest rates hike in foreign banks -, or yet a currency devaluation in the indebted countries, might provoke a crisis within the real economies, such as a balance of payments crisis, something we saw in 1980s in all of the 3rd World. Now, the US has the right not to contribute to other nations' development. But it also has a duty in not inteferring in their domestic politics as it has been doing for decades.
