I have been waiting for this one!….. .........
This story has been circulating for a week or so in the City…........

    They say:

    1) “....This is an exploration well due to it being located outside the Discovery Area.....”

    2) ”....It will be followed by an appraisal well that will be drilled in the Discovery Area.....”

    3) ”....Neither of these two wells will be tested while being drilled but cores will be taken from these and subsequent wells for analysis.....”

    4) ”....Rockhopper will then continue to drill a series of additional appraisal wells in order to assess the size of the Sea Lion discovery. This is likely to take until late in the year to complete.....”

AND WHAT DOES ALL THAT MEAN…………….???

    1) Please, don’t get disappointed with the upcoming dry well…….We told you we were drilling outside the ……..…..

    2) After this forthcoming duster, we are going to drill (only once!) there where we supposedly have discovered oil before.

    3) We are NOT going to test those wells whilst drilling so we DON’T have to tell you if we have found oil…… or NOT.

    4) We will continue using your invested money to drill like mad and MAYBE there will be some news on Christmas.

You are a ridiculous fool and know nothing of the O&G exploration business. Why don't you do a little research on how large fields are found and eventually brought into production BEFORE spouting off nonsense.

Let's see, could it be they already know what type of rock they are drilling through so no tests need to be performed until they reach total depth? Probably just a cost consideration not a conspiracy.
Another Argie personality defect is they see conspiracies everywhere. Maybe because there is in Argentina but rarely in civilized countries.

Best to wait and see. If the Falklands have no oil then its likely neither will Argentina. Whatever, the presence or otherwise of oil has no bearing on the issue of sovereignty and leaseback is not an option.

It also dawned on me it, since there is a brief window of decent weather in the Falklands they may forgo testing so the can drill more wells. It is extremely dangerous, difficult and expensive to drill/test in freezing windy weather. Every test is almost like starting drilling again, it is very time consuming and expensive to test and if they are in the same general area there is probably no need until they reach TD anyway.

Think - don't get to excited. You got excited about wax last time and look what happened. There is no need to test these wells as flow testing has already confirmed pressures and minimum flow rates. Why waste money on something that is known. The are looking at quality of seal, play and whether these sands are charged with oil or not. This is to see how far sealion extends,
    porosity etc.

If this drill comes in then sealion will be upgraded massively. If not then we move to an appraisal well in the discovery area which again can upgrade sealion (along with the new 3d seismic)!

I - my most was obviously exciting enough for you to reply. I may lose all my money but there is more from where that came so why worry?

One thing is certain, Argentina will only benefit from any future production if it decides to collaborate. Otherwise oil into FPSO and onto the market it goes. Cutting you Iberian colonials out of the equation completely.

Time will tell and patience is one thing I have.

Good luck with you nuclear war ambitions. Keep collecting the waste paper and selotape to make your gas centrifuges. Store them next to your catapults for safe keeping.

#15 when Malvinas oil production gets to a level worthy of international atention, Argentina might collaborate with China or Russia and let them deside your fate, after all they will supply the nukes, subs or stealth airplanes Argentina needs to keep you from reaching Malvinas dry, who knows we will have to see how much oil production there is, untill than pray to God the oil production stay at 0, even if it does cost UK tax payers 600 million a year for nothing in return, that way you can pest Argentines just a little while longer and use the excuse to come here to be insulted by one of us.

I - so you are now wanting divine intervention? Where was divine intervention in 1982?

So you think China and Russia give a crap about your spurious claims? A Russian owned company has just signed a major deal with BP and China would be more than happy to purchase any oil that came from the Islands ad wouldn't give two hoots about Argentina; you are too much of a little fish for them to care. China even decided your soya oil was of such poor quality that is banned the import of it not too long ago.

Argentina needs? Argentina can do nothing to stop an oil industry emerging (if a commercial province is established). Your assertion that anyone of any note actually cares shows how deluded you are.

I - FYI Russia has no need for any additional oil and both countries favour their relationship with the UK rather than some poxy South American country. Just look at how many flights go between the UK and Russia and China every day. How many Chinese students study at UK Universities? BTW China may prefer doing a deal with Petro Matad for oil. Another company I have a stake in :-)

BG Group is doing rather well in Brazil with its Chinese partners, loads of oil there.
BP's move towards the Arctic with our new friends in Russia also looks interesting.
Some of these Argentine tappers should think more about the big picture.
The Falklands will remain British Territory, play with words and silly games if you have the time but at the end of the day there isn't a damn thing you can do to change that.

The “True” story about “Fredbdc’s “ Argentinofobia
    Or
    How it all began.

Some years ago, in one of his hedonistic nocturnal escapades in Buenos Aires, Fredric misplaced somehow his nouveau riche “Rolex Oyster Perpetual Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified” watch. (What a lot of crappy text to plaster on a Watch’s face, by the way)

His Argentinean Missus immediately noticed the missing piece of Swiss money fetishism (and bad taste) from his wrist but Fred cunningly invented a violent tale of mugging and diverse mistreatment by some ugly, filthy and dishonorable Argentinean criminals.
He was even able to show her the evidence of the assault…. Nasty scratches on his back and fresh blue marks on his neck and throat.

You may ask…. how do I know?
After reading some of the niceties this American Idol had to say about my Country I typed “FREDBDC” on the search window of Google……. Tadaaaaaaaa……
    Advanced cyber-stalking :-))))

I found that, to add some veracity to his story, he had plastered various Internet Travel Bulletin Boards with a detailed description of the traumatic episode he was aa innocent victim of in the most foul, dreadful and frightening Argentina”.

He hasn’t stop lying yet :-)

That’s The Truth, The Whole Truth, and Nothing But The Truth.

“HAVE a shower” and “take a shower” are both correct but is more widely used for example “I will take a shower” “I’m going to take a shower” “I need to take a shower”, where can I take a shower, etc. I never heard in London someone saying I will have a shower. Where? In your new flat?.

What do you say taking medicine or having medicine?

The have seems old English may be more common in northern England, Scotland, etc.

Here a funny story when first arrived in London in a pub with some Australians and English was my turn to buy the drinks I asked them what they would like to drink. Someone told me a midi of lager??? Sounded very odd to me but I went to the bartender and repeat what he said.

Voila, the guy from the bar gave me half pint of beer, no problem. In other occasion in little pub more like for locals I’ve the disgrace to ask to the Scottish woman in the bar for a midi of larger.

She got piss off, upset I should say crazy. I thought she was going beating me for my sacrilege.

I’ve got a lesson of measurement, etc. Well with the time a learned that if a New Zealand girl seem to say Sex she is counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Sex. That if you say fine to a cockney accent guy he will reply a loff fun? Yeah!

That if you ask for a cheeseburger to Mouhamed he ask you if you want cheese on it.
If you ask to someone where are you from and reply Sorry he is from Surrey and that midi or pot is 285mL and Schooner is 420mL in Australia.

English language is not what used to be, today in England people use a lot of Yanks terms, Australians, Canadians, German words, Spanish words, French, etc.

Or you have the perfect accent like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sM45TACI4H4

    Haha : )

Ah, but what about 'taking a shower'? take it where? for a walk in the park? a trip to the seaside perhaps?

English is an awkward language isn't it.

#29 you seem under the impretion that I am asking for help or hand out from Russia or China, if you did get this idea, you might still be waiting for santa claus, what I really mean is that anyone who might want 1/4 of the resources found in Malvinas Argentina, they can access it by trading arms with Argentina, you don't think China or Russia needs the resources ?? maybe not today, but give it time and be patiente.
besides with zero oil production and darwin clifton we have nothing to use as lure,
#30 the pyrats will tell us when the oil is there and how much, the fish dies by his mouth.
#31 There is nothing Argentina needs to do to the illegal aliens in Malvinas Argentina, give it time all countries need a little conditioning, just keep one eye open while you sleep.

A paper bag certainly not but a little Island in the south, no problem.

2 hours would be enough to get the job done. They we will wait for the Royal Navy if she cans afford to pay the diesel for the trip down there.

Otherwise wind power propulsion like in the old days.

Think 78- several have tried this old story before- there is one big difference- in 1945 Germany dropped all territorial and sovereignty claims. So naturally enough in time all side became friends again.

Nico- 2hrs -silly talk - so you know where the cruise missile armed nuclear submarines are all the time do you? More than just 5th generation high tec aircraft defend the Islands you know. One of those submarines only has to be a wee bit south of Ascension Island and your main naval and airforce bases could be taken out.

And I said 2 hours because first breakfast mate.

Nuclear submarine can be easy detected from the surface by an infrared scanner, a Magnetic Anomaly Detector (MAD like you) ha ha and, with a DIFAR, Sonobuoys by any radar, electronic, microwave emission coming out.

Or the sub has to be turned off and what would be useful for?

Lets say all these toys that have an anti sub patrol in helicopters and turboprop aircraft.
Someone, better known as P-3 Orion operators developed by Lockheed Martin.

: ) There is not Nuclear sub or floating boat safe in the world any more.

Nico- so you have these up 24hrs a day covering every square kilometre of the entire South Atlantic from Ascension to Antarctica and to CapeTown? Me thinks not perhaps? the M.A.D. are those silly children who can only threaten and talk military force attack solutions - didnt work for you in 1982,for Germany in 1939,and not really for US/UK in Iraq either! Generally these M.A.D. have themselves never been in- nor even seen actual combat, nor the suffering it brings - the best dictators and bullies are usually cowards when it comes to it.

    @Islander1

1- you have doubts about the ability of our troops to invade the Islands.
So we don’t need to patrol the whole Atlantic Ocean just the area where our troops are operating and surrendered area.

2- Right YOU thing not but think is not equal to be sure and you are not, your militaries are not so you have to discover this in action. As the RN discovered that the air defense where useless against ours pilots and fighters : )

3- Stop seeing James Bond’s movies where he, with a machinegun and a fancy clock, beats the North Koreans. In real life he would be killed 1000 times before he could say James Bond.

3- Forget that with your fancy submarines you will get a way with it. A direct attack over Argentina will mean a full scale war. And until now you have always lose when attacking directly Argentina.
Score Still Arg. 3 Brits 0

DIM, you are some kind of weird fantasist that has little understanding of reality. Your military is so underfunded it couldn't afford the air fare to get to the islands ..... punching your way out of a paper bag would be a huge challenge. The British are still able to punch above their weight however and if there was such a conflict with the UK then Argentina would suffer badly. You could inflict some damage to the islands but you couldn't get to the UK. The UK could get to you though.

God forbid it should come to it!
