“More than 130 UN member states have recognized the Palestinian *right to* an independent Palestinian State.”

Apparently the South American nations do more than this - they recognise the State itself, ....... even though there isn't one!

This is a dangerous precident for (eg) Argentina, because if Israel is 'required' to revert to the pre-6 Day War borders, countries like Argentina might be required similarly to hand back its pre-1853 territories Patagonia and TdF!

    ...only joking ;-)

The PA - the Palestinians' government-in-the-making, led by Mahmoud Abbas, is in terminal crisis following the Al Jazeera-Leaks last week.

Many Palestinian analysts have declared a two-state solution dead and defunct - an ex-solution.
Research by the Palestinian CPSR shows that substantially less than 25 per cent of Palestinians believed they would have a state within five years. Samir Awad (a politics professor from Ramallah) and ‘most palestinians’ (sic) have concluded that their future is living in one bi-national state administered by Israel, “The fight for national independence is over”.

Mr Abbas recently said ”I cannot accept to remain the president of an authority (Palestine) that doesn't exist.”

The collapse of the PA will lead to one of two outcome-tracks:
    (i) a convulsive civil war between the Fatah - the party of Mr Abbas and Hamas.
(ii) the “Aghanistanisation” of parts of the West Bank the territories annexed in the victory in the 1967 war, with local warlords taking control of the territorial enclaves that Israel is not interested in.
