Feb 12th, 2011 - 05:35 am - Link - Report abuse 0To gain sympathy from the western audiences, Israel frequently boasts of being the only democracy in the region (nevermind Turkey and Lebanon). But now that a country tries to get rid of its decades-old dictatorship, one can see how Israel really values democracies. I hope the hipocrisy will not pass unnoticed by people over the world.

Samuel Johnson
... Every individual needs revolution, inner division, overthrow of the existing order, and renewal, but not by forcing them upon his neighbors under the hypocritical cloak of Christian love or the sense of social responsibility or any of the other beautiful euphemisms for unconscious urges to personal power ... Thanks Red Ho, but by reading Thucydides and Wallerstein I'm already well aware of how mendacity is important in winning the hearts of the people. But most people aren't: that's why empty moralizing is still an efficient tool in conducting international relations. And that's why I want Israel's hypocrisy to be perceived.
Feb 12th, 2011 - 06:09 am - Link - Report abuse 0”Moralizing opens one to the charge of hypocrisy. And while a cynical neo-realist (a category that probably includes me) would say that all governments are hypocritical, moralizing jars badly if one wishes to attract support in other countries on the basis of one's comparative virtue.” ~ Wallerstein
