Well, doesn't this say it all!
This used to be all-year-round employment for hundreds, if not thousands, of people in the favelas of Rio and SP.
It kept skills levels high, particularly in the clothing industries, and it was something that Brasil was proud of.
Now if a big fraction of the imported Carnival materiel got burned in a giant warehouse fire or two, who would the finger point at?

Now Brasil needs China to run its Carnivals.
