So at last the royal navy is sending a carrier,
HMS Invincible will be towed right past the coast of Libya en route to the scrapyard. What a bitter irony
still, its the thought that counts ??????

briton: The RAF Have proven that in this case a carrier is not necessary.

Even if we had the old ones, the harriers fail in comparison to the Eurofighters.

The carriers were old, as were the harriers. Giving them up means we'll have a uptodate force in 9 years, it is WELL worth it.

point taken but, like everything the politicians touch, they scrap now, with a promise of the future, but i think you will agree anything can happen in nine years, other military sites think that we should have gone for 3x the American 40-50, tons with aircraft, but hindsight says this every time, but we still manage to get it wrong, like the nimrods
billions just to see them scrapped, we will get two carriers, one may well be sold.
nine years is a long time, lest hope that we don’t need them ???

2, “HMS Invincible will be towed right past the coast of Libya en route to the scrapyard” Better than a Chinese restaurant in Liverpool, don't you think?
US doesn't want to be part of it, now they are saying that thanks to them the no fly zone is in place, true, but they do not want to look like the leader of this gang.
Guess who is going to be in charge? Canada.

“Guess who is going to be in charge? Canada.”

That's funny Marcos im sure you was repeating over and over in another thread that france was in charge?

NATO is in charge, NATO command is cycled on regualr a basis between commanders of each nation involved. Afghanistan for instance had commanders from each of the major 10 nations involved, Nations who participate more troops, aircraft ect usually get more commanders appointed than nations who participate less.

But it's not as simple as that, The Canadian general is a part of the canadian airforce, but he is serving with NATO and is based(and was before this) in nepal. it is a different command structure.

After reading all Hogwash from some blowhards here, NATO is USA. They are the boss. Not Canada (doesn't even have an army), nor Britian or France.

Fido “ NATO is USA” True, that's what I said they do not want to look as a leader of this gang, you know just in case something goes wrong, if that happens guess who are they going to blame? the poor Canadians.
