Several European Union objections to the current functioning of Mercosur have surfaced in documents relative to the ongoing trade negotiations round which is scheduled to have another chapter early May in Asunción, Paraguay. Read full article
Yul tries to explain in numbers that the EU needs Mercosul/Mercosur for offsetting it's products. Numbers shows that the EU has a deficit with Mercosul/Mercosur
Mercosul has no trade union, it basically exists to provide jobs for otherwise unemployable paper-pushing civil servants. Argentina raises barriers to Brazilian products and closes its border with Uruguay whenever the government needs a distraction from failing to provide for its people, and refuses to engage in free trade. This tactic is employed so often and it has been employed for so long throughout history by Argentinean governments, that economists have created a specific term for it: Brazil-baiting. Brazil should sign a unilateral free trade agreement with the EU, forget the other partners which do nothing for Mercosul, and surge ahead.
