UK Defence chiefs cast doubt over the safety of Chinook helicopters two years before 29 people were killed in the crash off the coast of Scotland. A previous incident in the Falkland Islands dating back to 1987 with the loss of another Chinook was also included in the investigation. Read full article

Apr 13th, 2011 - 03:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 0A helicopter flown by the RAF for the last six years - including a spell in Afghanistan - was constructed by combining portions of a crashed aircraft with a chinook captured from the Argentinians in the Falklands War

That's not a mickey mouse repair. It's a standard practice in maintenance.
Apr 13th, 2011 - 03:49 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Marcos I agree with you for once we shouldn't do that kind of repair. We should persue war reparations against the country that sank the Atlantic conveyer and the helicopters on board. Then we could buy replacements and have no shortages. While we are at it lets get compensation for the HMS Sheffield and Coventry then we can have at least one extra type 45 destroyer. It's time Argentina faced court and was made to account for the loss of the ships it sank ok Argentina will never be able to compensate the families of people it killed but it can replace the machines it wrecked.
Apr 13th, 2011 - 08:43 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Sure Charle, I also agree with you. We will do that soon after the UK pays for war reparations for two failed invasion of Buenos Aires, naval blockade for several years and illegal occupation of Malvinas.
Apr 13th, 2011 - 09:04 pm - Link - Report abuse 02 Zethee. Go tell them that:
Ian Sadler, who lost his son Jack in the explosion, has been highly critical of the inadequate equipment provided to British troops.
Everyone I have told about the helicopter being a cut and shut has responded with disbelief, said Mr Sadler, from Exmouth, Devon.
It's penny pinching and an insult to the young men who are going to Afghanistan and risking and losing their lives”
Marcos you can consider the IMF payouts Argentine has received over the years as compensation for any misdeeds over BA UK's is a large contributor to IMF you know. Also there is no illegal occupation of the Falkland Islands if you have evidence of any illegal occupation take it to the ICJ. If you do not take it to ICJ I think it reasonable to assume that you know full well that Argentina's claim is illegal.

Marcos when the people requested we left all those places if the people of the falklands ever ask we'll leave that's democracy not that you'd know much about respecting the rights of islanders.

Like you did with the Chagossians?
4 Marcos Alejandro:
Apr 15th, 2011 - 10:45 am - Link - Report abuse 0Mr Sadler unfortunately lost his son and is upset. But it's
still standard maintenance, Buying more parts when you already have parts sitting infront of you is a waste of money.
Like you did with the Chagossians?
So you disagree with this, but would advocate it with the islanders?
