“Venezuela in Mercosur will act as a balancing element . . . . and Unasur has more than proven its merits”, said Mercopress, reporting Paraguay’s new Foreign Affairs minister Jorge Lara Castro.

What can Venezuela bring to the table other than ‘balancing’ – whatever that is?

But Paraguay is completely unable to vote to bring Venezuela into Mercosur.[ In itself, a good thing.]

    And what about Unasur?
Sr Castro thinks that joining it would be good for Paraguay. Actually, Sr. Castro, Paraguay is a founder member since 2004 though, again, it cannot get round to signing the Charter.

All in all, Sr. Castro, a weaker load of nonsense would be hard to imagine!
