Julio Grondona president of Argentina’s Football Association, AFA, and FIFA Vice-president strongly denied having been bribed to support Qatar World Cup bid in 2022 and said the only time he ever asked for something was when he told the English they could have his vote “if they returned what belongs to Argentina, the Malvinas Islands”. Jun 01st, 2011 - 11:20 am - Link - Report abuse 0Something else about Grondona that you may find interesting:
Jun 01st, 2011 - 12:14 pm - Link - Report abuse 02003: Julio Grondona responds to a journalist's question about referee standards in Argentina by saying: I do not believe a Jew can ever be a referee at this level. It's hard work and, you know, Jews don't like hard work.
His mother must be so proud.
British are bad losers and liars.
Jun 01st, 2011 - 12:21 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Who is going to vote for England in this world?
The Olympics are in London next year. I'm pretty sure somebody voted for that.
Jun 01st, 2011 - 12:37 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The Olympic Committee was forced to change ..... FIFA will be forced too. After all, it needs sponsors !
Jun 01st, 2011 - 12:47 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Interesting that the vice-chairman immediately reverted to the old Argentine political practice of employing the Falkland islands as a diversion ..,. guilty or what ?
Not sure about guilty - it just made him look stupid.
Jun 01st, 2011 - 12:56 pm - Link - Report abuse 0He also seemed to admit that voting has nothing to do with the value of the bid - and admitted he can't tell the difference between the British and the Americans either.
He sounds a bit senile.

Geo, I think you may possibly find that the Falklands are already in a FIFA list somewhere anyway. As for Grondona - the English folk he offerred his bribe to probaly did not have a clue where or what he was talking about - the Malvinas! But it shows he is bent! Hopefully the major sponsors will pull out- the house will collapse around the old fart,s presidential ears - and the world will rebuild a new clean an open FIFA without a blather

The AFA and FIFA are the most corrupt organization in the world.
Jun 01st, 2011 - 05:12 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Grondana. Has he ever been anything except a w*nker? Does any Argentine understand the concept of the truth? Of course not. Every single one is a lying, cheating toe-rag. Anybody think there's a good reason to let Argentines exist? Of course not. Spanish rebel colonialist lying toe-rags. Jun 01st, 2011 - 06:20 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It just goes to show the level of corruption, Argentina, as an example, can’t get the Falkland’s by fighting or stealing or skulduggery, now they use football as a bargaining tool, but for multi-national Argentina [the new name] as some are offended by Argentina, as they originate from all over the world] what an excuse to alloy their own corruption, but argie to one side, this football is a disgrace and needs to be cleaned up,,

Hey ho!
I bet many in England would've prefer to have return Malvinas to Argentina in no time in order to get the world cup.
Jun 02nd, 2011 - 04:18 am - Link - Report abuse 0Return Malvinas and we'll think about it.
@27. Probably not, if we are really honest. You should read some of the negativity about hosting the Olympics. It costs billions to host such events and many people think it is not money well spent. It seems to be a vanity thing to host huge sporting events, IMO, a power trip for the few.

LOL @ Putin accusing anyone else of dirty tricks! I don't click links but I strongly suggest not reading anything in the Daily Mail. It is the paper for armchair racists and zenophobes. A typical headline there would be Immigrants are giving us cancer and YOU are paying for it. *rolls eyes*

However be careful FIFA The English premiership is the richest in the world and could if it wished and if pushed start a new world cup, one that sponsors who sponsor Fifa would only be to happy to sponsor leaving FIFA up the creek without a paddle. Quite a few countries are unhappy with the present set up and are just waiting in the wings for a country like England with the rich English clubs to take the lead. Its already been talked about quietly.

Jun 04th, 2011 - 11:42 am - Link - Report abuse 0Of course when speaking of FIFA corruption they completely forget about SIR STANLEY and how in 1966 Pele got more kicks in three weeks than Messi in his entire career,German ref organized for the Argentina-England quarter final and of course an Englander for Uruguay-Germany.Dear boy how could those South Americans play without anglosaxon rules.Ols Sir Stanley had agreat love for the Englanders and Afrikaaners keeping South Africa civilized as well.Of course the CBF and AFA didnt much like it and the South American/African alliance has made sure we dont have any more SIRs in lausanne

Jun 06th, 2011 - 10:52 pm - Link - Report abuse 0And you wonder why the worlds ignore you,
Allow me to correct to somewhat,
England cannot return the Malvinas, because we don’t have them.
Never had them, and probably never heard of them,
But
Great Britain does have the Falkland’s islands, and as they wish to remain British, i suggest you keep on dreaming,
O gara (#)--------- What the FOOOOOK are you talking about? Can you translate that lot in to something we can all understand.
