The prevailing winter Falkland Current is from South to North along the coast of Argentina to Uruguay.
It meets the North to South Brasil Current off Uruguay, and the food-rich water gives way to food-poor water.
When storms drive these marine animals too deeply into areas with no food, starvations and deaths occur - like today.

Glad you cleared that up, Geoff. Was expecting the Argentines to say it had something to do with our oil drilling! They prob will anyway!
