The next UK/Falkland Islands airbridge flight remains uncertain, following the recent disruption caused by the volcanic eruption in Chile it was reported by the Falklands radio station. Read full article
We know the British colonialism and Argentine. We prefer the British. It is more democratic, said Patrick Watts, of local radio in the Falkland Islands...”
JPL - how many times before you idiots get it? The Falkland islands are not an independent country. They are a British Overseas Territory with a large measure of self determination and democracy. Unlike Argentina which has a 'Flawed Democracy'. The old 'colony' became, via a circutous route, to being a BOT.
When they have their own seat at the UN they'll be an independent democracy. It's only really their desire to remain British that stops this. Oh, and Argentine belligerence of course.
Well said, Redhoyt. ln fact l think that the Argentines are getting thicker in the head, judgin from some of the posts here.
Hey, JPL. We are what we are & what we want to be & its got absolutely nothing to do with you or your silly country.
We can be:
1) a Kingdom.
2) a Republic.
3) a Colony.
4) an Overseas Territoryof ANY country that WE choose).
5) if we wanted to(we don't), we could even be a communist dictatorship.
And guess what? lTS NONE OF ARGENTINA'S BUSINESS.
So you canwait to hear what you like.
The Spanish are currently employing a phrase, something about ' colonisation by consent not being acceptable', which is a bit wierd .... any decision by the people to be what they want to be HAS to be acceptable. It's called democracy, but then I suppose that you who don't have democracy can hardly be expected to understand it.
geo - you either need to do some more research, or you are an idiota!
Ignorance is bliss Geo. You are the perfect example of this saying. You have completely discredited yourself. You have proved with your statements that you are out of your element and know nothing about the Falkland Islands.
There is Mount Pleasant, which is the British military base, there is Stanley the Capital of the Falklands, which is populated by 2,500 civilians and there are 80+ farms sparsely populated around the entire Falkland Islands. In total there are 3,000 civilians. How do I know this? I am one of those civilians, as well as my family, friends, colleagues, neighbors etc. I saw hundreds of civilians today remembering those who died in the war and celebrating the liberation of the Falkland Islands. You should come here, you will be shocked at the level of your ignorance.
@ 10 if it is like you say, then why all the fuss on the telegraph website, mercopress, and on many other websites? you seem deluded, you say that everything's ok but you rant about Argentina's claim of sovereignty to your home. what is so scary about Argentina's claim of sovereignty?
