They eventually helped to galvanize opposition to the brutal dictatorship, which was found to have kidnapped and killed between 10,000 and 30,000 people.

With a little help from HM armed forces

You're an idiot. Argentina does not need to thank the English or her amed forces for anything. As was usual at the time, leaders in the US and the UK (when it was a country that actually mattered) chose to look the other way so long as the country did not go communist during the cold war.

@2 US did not look the other way .... we got trained by them in jungle warfare, counter terrorism, etc, etc. Escuela de las Americas in Panama, established by the Americans , run by Argentine Military. By the 80's the PRN (Proceso de Reconstruccion Nacional) should of called for elections already ..... it lasted too long .

Now Stick, in my opinion the conflict of 82 gave the last blow to the PRN...

I think perhaps one should be careful and not give the impression that you defend the corrupted one’s,
It’s not the little people who are to blame, as work hard for what they believe in,
Once again it’s the corrupt bxds at the top who rob and steal, but it’s the little guy that gets it, while the others hide like cowards spending other people’s money.
    Just a thought..
