Britain is in favour of change, but if you think we are going to support handing the asylum over to the lunatics, you are likely to be waiting a very long time :-)

Its the British who are responsible for Industrial revolution, The Information age (invention of the computer) & The Nuclear age (splitting of the Atom).

Until the end of 1970 some devices could be programmed to perform some basic task as sequencers and store data in memory made with diodes far more advanced of what you consider this old crap and these devices never were considered a computer.
If for you something that can performs a basic arithmetic task is a computer I guess your switches in your wall that turns your light on and off are pretty useful.

Babbages Analytical Engine was much more than a calculator and marks the progression from the mechanized arithmetic of calculation to fully-fledged general-purpose computation.
Ask any IT expert & they will all tell you the same Babbage created the first( Mechanical) & Turing the first (Electronic)

But if we talk about modern computers what about Federico Faggin (an Italian physicist electrical engineer) who designed the first CMOS technology and the first microprocessor and led 4004 MCS-4 proj. for Intel?
