Jul 07th, 2011 - 02:59 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Is this guy for real - seeking the integration of the two continents of the Americas?
Jul 07th, 2011 - 07:14 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It's very good of him to propose bringing definitively all 30-40 nations into the USA sphere of influence, but I doubt that 25-35 of them will follow the lead.
Herding cats comes to mind.
you mean Insulza? He's definitely not a pro-USA figure as many do describe him.
Jul 07th, 2011 - 09:41 pm - Link - Report abuse 01. USA did all efforts to avoid his presidency (first making lobby for the mexican candidate, and later, when the mexican resigned his race, they supported a honduranian (if I am not mistaken in nationality) they even didnt know, with only purpose to sabotage Insulza.
2. Insulza originally wanted to become candidate for Chilean presidency, but he's way to leftist, and has certain sympathies for Cuba and Chavez. Since this is known, he surely lost all possiblities to reach national presidency ever.
3. It's Insulzas fault, that Honduras was banned from the OEA. He was the prime driver for their expulsion.
4. When he was the candidate for OEA presidency, only 3 countries in LA were against him. USA as mentioned, Peru and Bolivia due to tense relations back there, fearing his lobbism for Chilean interests. Surprisingly, Peru is nowerdays one of his strongest supporters. That says it all regarding his political position.
No, Man, it's Humala who said he wanted total integration across the Americas.
Jul 08th, 2011 - 08:49 am - Link - Report abuse 0I really don't think he has thought things through.
ah ok, yes... of course. Humala is known for contradicting himself in shortest time. Don't take his word for granted. 3 Weeks ago when he met with Chilean government, he said he would stay out of the Chile-Bolivian issue regarding access to the sea, not even one week later when he visited Evo Morales, he assured him full backing for their claim.
