Two men were charged on Tuesday of cover-up in the case that investigates the abuse and killing of the two French tourists in the north-west Argentine province of Salta, the judicial spokesman Marcelo Báez reported.
Enrique Lasi and Eduardo Sandoval “were charged in the case for covering up the hiding of the gun used in the crime of the French students after the questioning before the Judge” Martín Pérez, but both of them remain free, Báez added.
Both had contributed with the hiding of the 22 calibre gun which was allegedly used to kill Houria Moumni (24) and Cassandre Bouvier (29) in mid July, and whose bodies were found two weeks later with signs of abuse at the Quebrada de San Lorenzo tourist zone.
Enrique Lasi is the uncle of Gustavo Lasi, one of the six suspects which seem to be the most involved in the case, and who on Friday confessed he was in the crime scene after the DNA test settled that the semen sample extracted from Moumni’s body belonged to him.
María Fernanda Cañizares (24), girlfriend of Gustavo Lasi is also accused of cover-up. She is the only woman between the suspects and was the one who had the camera and the cell phone of one of the victims, according to the judge. She alleged they were given to her by her boyfriend.
On Friday, the judge had freed Omar Ramos (47) and Federico Cañizares (23), brother of María Fernanda, although they are also charged with cover-up. Báez reported that currently there are six suspects arrested for the case
