“CFK, CFK, riding through the glen,
CFK, CFK, with her band of men,
Feared by the good, loved by the bad,
    CFK, CFK, CFK.”

(with apologies to ‘The Adventures of Robin Hood’ theme tune, 1950s TV, UK)

You don't have to be good to be powerful.

Ghengis, Atilla, Schicklgruberand Dzhugashvili were the world's most powerful people, but I wouldn't want them anywhere near me.

Ghengis always gets such a terribly bad rep, he built a nation out of semi-nomadic tribes, united them into a people who did not discriminate on the grounds of religion or race, instituted an equitable system of laws within his (rapidly expanding) empire and brought peace within the Mongol empire (which had been beset by endemic inter-tribal fighting).

Admittedly, he was ruthless when it came to people (and peoples) who didn't want to be part of the Mongol Empire (most notably Baghdad, which was besieged, raised to the ground and had most of it's population massacred), but once you were in the empire you were judged on your merits rather than anything else.

    Rufus #7 (para 2),

    oh, good.
But don't tell CFK about old Ghengis; she might Baghdad Stanley.
But at least the survivors could become Truely Meritous Argentinians.

I don't think she would be classified as the maddest woman on the planet but she would certainly be in the top one!

    Tiger,
    you couldn't be more wrong.

I make no comment on her status as a witch,
but intellectually, and as a chemical scientist, her intelligence placed her in the top 1% in the world.

    How very silly
The queen is a head of state and a figure head,
She has no power, so the list may be interpreted in many ways,
But lets go a bit further, just to impress you,
    Argentina is 17th,
Now how far up that ladder do you think the queen would be,
if she WAS in power, and the power in charge of great Britain and the commonwealth, in the meaning, THAT you read into it,
We would put he in about the TOP 3 .
But as she is just the queen, and not in power [in that sense] then of course she would be down the list, after all, that is what it is, JUST A LIST . lol.

So perhaps it is you who should be thinking of leaving things alone lol

In a constitutional monarchy the Queen has little power hence we are a democracy. I Argentina the president can issue a decree, which us probably why Argentina is officially classified as a flawed democracy!

CFK v Thatcher? At least Thatcher could recover the Falklands. CFK has difficulty recovering her sanity. Is she medicated?

    • The government today announced that it is changing its emblem from our Argentinian flag to a CONDOM because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed. from a friend of Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner

It would be interesting to know what criteria the ranking's makers had in mind. How come Lady Gaga - a mediocre artist that will likely be forgotten in 5 years - is the 11th most powerful woman in the world? Does she control any large corporations? does she have the power to start a war?
