    Really good move! Proud to see Argentina getting more inclusive in all levels. What a lesson to so many “first world” countries! (namely US) And for those here who say they are disgusted about this...well guys, your ignarance and prejudice really shine!...Straight, gay, lesbian or transgender...we all are human beings at the end of the day with the same rights, dues and dignity.

    Without declaring any proclivity or predjudice,
    which strikes you as more debased - being paid to kill other people, or living in a permanent relationship with another guy?

    Over the years I've realised that what I previously thought was the pits of moral turpitude was nothing of the kind.
    There are other pits which are way more turpitudinous.

    @11Artillero601,
    True, marriage is normally between a man & a woman but l do have some sympathy & compassion for gays.
    God made them too, & he made them the way they are for a reason that we can't know.
    lt must be a terrible existance, not being one or the other, not knowing what they are.
    As long as they don't flaunt their sexuality & are good citizens, then l accept them.
    As soldiers, they have the right to serve their country as much as the rest of us.
    l'm just thankful that l am attracted to the opposite sex!

    @11...Look, Marriage is a human institution and therefore it can change or adapt as any other thing which is man made. I has nothing to do with being a man or a woman. God made us in different ways and only HE (or SHE or IT) knows why there are many sexual orientations. For sure gay people must have a purpouse on this Earth, since they have excisted all the time and as far as I know, nobody chooses to be born that way, it just happens as you may be born a blond or a brunette. There fore it's natural and there fore there's no reason to deny to these people the same rights that you enjoy.
    @16 Isolde, I'm sure gay people would appreciate your simpathy, but you should know that they don't need your compassion or aceptance, we all are faulty to some degree, so, don't think for a second that you are better than them in any way...we all are humans and that means NO PERFECTION.
    I happen to have some gay friends, and I don't think they have a terrible existence, save for having to put up with ignorant and selfrightous people who can't seem to understand that being a human involves a lot more than your sexual orientation....

    @17Jeremy,
    You mis-understand me. l have never said that l was better than gays or anyone else. But they do want my(& everyones)acceptance.
    l too, have some gay friends & l knew one young man who commited suicide because he was gay & he told me that he didn't want to be gay. l don't understand it either. So they do need compassion.
    Fine, if you & society can accept this. Not so fine, if you & society cannot.
    He lived a terrible existance.
    Yes, correct, we are all imperfect humans(even malvinistas! although l'm sure THEY think they're special!).

    Unfortunately, Isolde, some people will reject your comment even when it supports their own point of view.
    It is, indeed, a funny old world.

    Gays seem to have a chip on the shoulder all the time (at least in the US), they seem like they have to prove their point of view all the time, it sounds like Argentina and Malvinas sometimes .... very annoying!!!. In my times, homosexuality was not allowed in the Military, was an automatic dismissal ... Of course, we evolved in a more understandable society so please “don't tell me and I will not ask” .... a civil union would be OK but MARRIAGE?? not in my book, I'm sorry!

    Ok, Art,
    a Civil Union, but one which affords the stable - even lifelong - relationship rights of partnership, ownerships and inheritances.

    It sounds like a marriage to me, but without the involvement of the Church (no bad thing if you're an atheist/agnostic requiring the recognition of a relationship).

    And I have had a number of homosexual friends and work-colleagues, none of whom had a chip on his/her shoulder - just good, decent people. Can't see why they would be different in the US. ???

    “In my times, homosexuality was not allowed in the Military, was an automatic dismissal”
    Can you please elaborate how our intelligent Argentinean officers determine back then the homosexuality or not of soldiers to be?
