A degree in Zoology from Derby and now in charge of public relations and media? Trying to control the rebel sheeps? Hmmm

Changing subjects, about the removal of Emma Edwards as the Tourism Representative a few days ago, anybody care to know what she really thinks?

“I just feel very unhappy with how this situation was handled by members and worry that the practice was not democratic or open,” she concluded.

Clearly is not allowed to have a different opinion over there.

This Mr Darren, is he an islander? He speaks of “our” community but is from the UK and has only stepped up on the islands in 2001? OMG, this concept of “people” of yours is so weird! Poor Mr Darren, bad start!

Alejo - Falklands society is very odd. They have elections and the local authorities are legitimately elected to office but the culture in the islands is anything but democratic. It is very heirarchial and imposes a rigid system of status and an obvious 'pecking order'.
In some ways it is tribal - expressed thru family loyalties within the Islanders and a peculiar - very english - 'clique' system within the ex-patriot english community.
Emma Edwards fell foul of this system by simply not acquiescing to the established 'status quo' and thus stepped out of line - so she had to go.
The habit of the government for choosing entirely unsuitable candidates from overseas for jobs that logically should go to indigenous Islanders is fairly consistent - inavariably result in one catastrophe after another. I sometimes wonder if the islands government rather enjoys choosing the most unsuitable people who, as an added attraction, also have mental health and addiction problems.

    Emma Edwards

“What I fundamentally disagree with is a removal process that is carried out behind closed doors, without an opportunity to be able to put forward my side of the story,” she said.
    Democracy?

”On announcing the appointment, the Chief Executive Dr Tim Thorogood...”

Great a British born in Barbados announced the new arrival from England(Darren), to take the illegal colonial government of Malvinas Argentinas message across to key international audiences! Lovely.

    ''Poor Mr Darren, bad start!''

You're an arrogant prat, and so are your Argentine friends.
You don't know anything about this, and it's none of your business.
Darren has Falkland Island Status, is married to a Falkland Islander and has a child born in the islands.
Now it may be that you Argentines would treat someone in this position as some kind of second- rate citizen, but we don't.
Darren has a huge amount of ability, commitment and respect, and quite honestly you can all say whatever you like. I think he'll do a brilliant job.

I don't know what happened. Sorry.
I do know that government policy is decided by the councillors collectively, and the portfolio holder is supposed to go along with the majority decision. I also know that Emma has some very strong opinions on many issues.
Other than that, I don't know anything.

    My bad!

It isn’t Bambi he wants to kill…..
It is Red-Nosed Rudolph …… and the rest of Santa’s reindeer!
    You remember Santa?..............
That nice ol’ man that, as every kid in the world knows, lives in the Islas Georgias del Sur…………..

Argentina stands no chance against such heartless hulk of a Public Relations and Media Manager :-)

    Santa Claus is dead.
Rudolph and his mates were captured, butchered, cooked on a slow oven, carved and eaten by some Belgian OAP's.
The OAP's said the meat was tasty and tender but that they much preferred Argentine Polo ponies.

Its a mystery but according to the Junta, Santa was in his sleigh delivering presents one Xmas Eve before falling to his death, somewhere over Argentina. His body has never been found.

    I say:
I don’t know if you know but…….......... You just stroked one of the most exposed nerves of Malvinas society.
So painfull that even I don’t talk about it.
Any information you care to share about the mental ailments afflicting that little bunch?

    Cher Isolde………….
Those mad uniformed Argentineans you are referring to have been, by the thousands and after due process, properly disposed of in diverse penitentiary units.........
Curiously enough, you are quite friendly with Artillero601, one of the young unapologetic ones.

    @22Think,
l do not know him or you. However he does not insult us like you do.
Are you saying that you've caught nearly all of the perpetrators of that horrible time?
As Artillero601 has pointed out, the rebels, revolutionaries, whatever they were, commited similar crimes against the families of the military & police.
There are at least 2 sides to every story.
Artillero may be a monster with good manners, so may you be.
l have no way of knowing, but, he doesn't continuously insult us as you do. Most of your ravings go over my head, but there is always that thought, “how secure would my family be if we were invaded again & Sr Think was in the occupying forces?”
You continuously state that you want to ethnically cleanse us. Are you joking? l don't think so. What else are you capable of?
This is not your country's land, no matter what you think or what you have been taught.
Can't you do your own research & see through your country's lies?
As l have previously stated, you will have to kill me before you will get my home.

    (23) Cher “Drama Queen” Isolde

    You say:
    1) ”How secure would my family be if we were invaded again & Sr Think was in the occupying forces?”
    2) ”You continuously state that you want to ethnically cleanse us.”
    3) ”You will have to kill me before you will get my home.”

    I say:
    1) A new Argentinean invasion is exceedingly implausible….. Sr. Think participation in such endeavor is an absolute impossibility.
    2) I never “stated”anything of the kind. I have mentioned expropriation, proper economical compensation and relocation help, for those Islanders that reject the forthcoming British/Argentinean agreement on Malvinas.
    3) That would not be necessary Cher Isolde….. I’m convinced that the British police are properly trained to handle citizens in an altered state of mind…. Just ask our resident copper, Mr. Redhoyt.

I wonder if his use of this argument undermines the whole argument they repeat ad infinitum regarding that bloke who came to the Falklands and lied about his qualifications; because if anyone was unsuitable, it was him.

    @24Think,
Fine words, sr Think. Now you're backing down as you want to be seen as a“harmless, peaceful” person from a“peaceful” country(ha!) while we are, how do you say“brutish & brutons” etc(more insults?).
When l said you would be in the invading forces, l meant to add “& others like you” l got excited & missed parts out.
You want to expel us, you have said that before----that's ethnic cleansing. Don't beat around the bushes.
Yes, saying that l will defend MY home may be melodramatic to you, but l mean it. l do not want your home, you should not want mine.
You have no rights & no business here.
Anyway, there are other subjects to talk about.
You never confirmed or denied about your revolutionaries murdering the families of military & policemen.
lf true, then they were no better than the people that you like to condemn. mmmm?

I’m not ”backing down” from nowhere…..
I am a harmless, peaceful person from a peaceful Country that has no chance whatsoever against the Brutish mighty military machine.

And yes…………., I want to expropriate and resettle each and every one of you Islanders that serve Britain’s Colonial interests against Argentina’s and South-America’s.
Those of you that can recognize that this is “AMERICA” and not “Little Britain” are more than welcome to stay to the end of eternity because it is then and only then that Malvinas will truly become your home.

    @28Think,
    Still the insults flow.
We reject utterly your would-be colonialism over a land that you have never owned & never will.
l don't believe that you are a harmless, peaceful person & you certainly do not come from a peaceful country.
You & your countrymen make continual threats about what will happen if you don't get what you want.
Well threaten away, cause you ain't agonner get it.
Why don't you leave & be re-settled elsewhere?
You are serving Argentina's colonial interests in Patagonia.
Non, m.Think, you had just better get used to us as neighbours.
