Ha! It appears that the islands will be turned into a mammoth garrison. But, is it to protect the poor captive natives from their neighbours, or to safeguard Lizzie's economic interests? Time will tell.

You complete plank. Since when does one company of infantry constitute a 'mammoth garrison'?

120 soldiers on TDY is a “mammoth garrison”.

Even for an Argentine that is a ludicrous exaggeration.

I think the Argies should try again. It's not like our lads don't enjoy target practice. And there's no better target than an Argie.

Why do you send royal ceremonial guard to las malvinas?

This is a strange story, why they send their cerimonial troops?

Didn't you know, Filippo? The Queen has decided to live in the Falklands.
geo would have all the information about this.

Filippo: They are fully trained combat troops who just do cerimonial duties when asked. Many units have done so in the past like the Royal Marines, Gurkhas, Paras and even a Malaysian unit a few years back. Units from Jamacia Canada Australia and New Zeland are also often posted as queens guards.

None of them are just cerimonial.

2PWRR isn't a ceremonial guard, it's a light infantry batallion, that performs public duties.

I don't think there are any purely ceremonial guards in the British Army, generally speaking they're trained to be soldiers first (either infantry or armoured reconnaisance for the donkey-wallopers) before they train to do the whole ceremonial bit.
