Thoroughly aware of the sheer volume of work involved in politics at the recent Commonwealth Youth Parliament (CYP), Nadia Smith said such a high level career may not be for her just yet, “but there was a strong possibility the Falklands Legislative Assembly may beckon one day.” Read full article

    @2
Must still be smarting for her Charidy work going wrong, anyway shouldnt they be English, as in Pirates :-))))

Her decision to cohost a 1982 television fundraiser devoted to the ongoing Falklands War cost the hostess professional clout following the advent of democracy in 1983

Interesting isn't it, the Falkland - Argentine problem is democracy vs fascism defined!

The world will have to act against Argentina sooner or later.

I remember a few days ago the English had to change their panties after a very close game in the rugby World cup, does anybody know the score of the game Argentina-Scotland by any chance?

We kicked your Argie assess in 1982 and we will continue to do so. Beating us by 2 points in a close game of rugby bears no comparison to us whipping your asses and kicking your tin pot jackboot Nazi army into the sea in 1982.

We may not have the best rugby team in the world, but we have the best fighting men and our Scottish regiments be they in the British Army, the Canadian Army, the South African Army, the New Zealand Army, the Australian Army or the US armed forces are the best fighting forces in the world. The Argentine Numpty Army does not even compare!

Argentines are the most despised people in Latin America, i feel sorry for your neighbors, especially Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, the Falkland Islands and South Georgia all of which seem to have some kind of claim over them, either land mass or access to energy resources from Argentina.

Filippo, If Argentina wants the Falkland Islands so badly, why don't you start by trying to be sociable and co-operative?
Do you really think that the population will respond to threats?
Is this the image of your country you want to project to the world- “Do as we say or we will murder you”?
Presumably that is also the atmosphere the population back home in Argentina have to endure- it must be a laugh a minute for you guys!

As Zethe says, the level of some pro Anglo posters (Conquerer, etc) is really low, as well as the known Argentine posters (Filippo, Kiwisarg and a couple of others).
Let's try to keep things civilised and based on facts or humorous banter, not name-calling and threats of violence.

@22 Judged by the name you have chosen, I assume your heritage is neither British nor English. In that case, perhaps you should begin by declaring yourself.

As it happens, I was around in 1982 and was able to see a day-by-day, blow-by-blow account of events as a bunch of Argentines numbered around 10,000 or more bravely sought to overcome the 80 Royal Marines present at the time in order to steal OUR territory. Territory the citizens of which look to Britain for their defence.

Over time, we have watched argies lie about EVERYTHING. They lie about when Britain took possession, their claim, about 1833, about the intervening 150 years, about the events of the Falklands War and, most of all, they lie about being a peaceful democratic country. It should not be forgotten that they began their existence by violently rebelling against the Spanish Empire as well as executing violence toward the indigenous population.

Back in 1981/2, Britain made a mistake. It proposed withdrawing HMS Endurance, for its own reasons. Possibly a culmination of events as Argentina had been illegally landing troops on the Islands for some time. Argentina saw its chance. It acted without even the declaration of war mandated by the Hague Convention (III) of 1907.

Having fought a war, and lost, you might think Argentina would recognise reality. The principle of uti possidetis is that territory and other property remains with the possessor at the end of a conflict. So Argentina has no business going around the world trying to stir things up. The Falkland Islanders want to live undisturbed and at peace without the constant interference of Argentina in violation of the UN Charter. Britain is committed to that.

We would rather not have to travel 8,000 miles again and sort Argentina again. But we will if we have to. And the people of Britain will demand a proper end. Why should argies not be aware that Britain's resolve is strong? Or what we can do if they go on pushing their luck?

I came here hoping to understand where the Argentines were coming from. But the more I've read of their posts the more I realise, that they actually come across as a frightening, psychotic bunch of narrow minded fanatics, fascists and insane men.

They are manipulating Mercosur, the UN and now the G77, any organisation dominated by psychotic regimes.

@24 If you research you will find that Argentina has more psychiatrists in relation to their population than any other country in the world. They are, apparently, congenitally “nervous”.

I prefer your diagnosis. Although you might want to include “fatuous” and mendacious.
