Mention the word “tourist” and you can be forgiven for recalling the expectorations, feeble linguistic skills and criminally small swimming briefs of this homogenous traveller “race.” But not everyone’s like that. Read full article

LOL! True, I need to be slathered in factor 50 suncream or I burn. Even then my nose still looks like a Belisha Beacon. After a day in the sun I could signal ships with it. Something I considered doing to pass the time when stranded in Ushuaia.

Have you read any of the Jet Lag books?

    LOL! True...........
Tall, blond, relaxed, healthy: Swedes are easy to spot, but not to be confused with Norwegians (prone to being taller but gloomier) or Danes (even taller, even gloomier).
We’re known for being polite, self-deprecating and evenly tanned. Few nationalities look better in beachwear. We make the rest of you look like gelatinous blobs ;-)

    Germans,
As global travellers, they’re seen as intelligent, respectful and friendly. And while they may drink as much booze as their European contemporaries, at least they can handle it.

True, with one exception: seems that Mallorca and the other balearic islands are the kryptonite of the germans...

Elaine, you even get burnt in Usuhaia? You poor girl...

DO UNITED STATIANS REALLY TRAVEL? UNITED STATIANS ARE ALWAYS TRYING TO MAKE CANADIANS LOOK LIKE THEY'RE STUPID OR COWARDS, THAT'S SO FUNNY, BECAUSE CANADIANS ARE ONE THE NICEST PEOPLE YOU'LL EVER MEET, AND DEFINITELY THEY'RE NOT UNITED STATIANS.

“But years of PC inculcation and generally peaceful life in one of the world’s most ethnically diverse countries has made most Americans more culturally sensitive than they’re often given credit for.” I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD LAUGH OR CRY AT THIS!!!

@3 Apparently Ushuaia only has about a dozen days of sunshine each year (a local told me this but I haven't checked it). I was only there for five days and had four beautiful sunny days. Lucky for me but not for my nose. : )
