If you are an Argentine I hope you have moved all your assets out of the country. CFK and the Peronists will steal anything that is not nailed down. I am sure that Obama and the Democrats in the USA look wistfully down at Argentine and wish they were in a position of “unprecedented power” so that they could steal everything from the American people.

Surely the mistakes in this article were not made on purpose ;) But here's the facts: (1) Nobody's asking for indefinite re-election, and (2) inflation is not this administration's doing but big businesses', which have been historically against democratic governments in Argentina.

    Roberto
Put down the Marx and read some economics. Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary (government money printing) phenomenon. Big business can't print money but CFK prints it (and steals it) like carzy

Seems the government's attempt to keep the currency at a competitive price provokes inflation. Now, there are other factors as well. Inflation can also be provoked when supply doesn't match demand. I think it is known Argentine farmers sometimes killed cattle so as to upset future meat supply, and force prices to climb.

One obvious error in this story: “On Sunday ballot stations will be opened from 08:00 in the morning to 18:00 in the evening. An hour later the first results will begin to be announced.” - It is against the law in Argentina to issue any official results until 3 hours after the closure of the voting, i.e., 9 p.m.

seems CFK will get close to 54% of the vote. Two or three years ago many of the pro English people on here were bellowing she wouldnt last her first term. With the economy growing at 8,5% as much of the World is in deep recession she has acheived remarkable sucess. We were told all Kirchners early success was down to favourable tail winds.Well they are playing into a gale right now and still doing well enough for their citizens to give her a massive mandate.
