“Sea Spirit” with 94 passengers and heading for South Georgia was the first cruise ship of the 2011/2012 to call in the Falkland Islands, reports the Penguin News.
The 94 passengers flew in on the LAN flight on Saturday 22 October and enjoyed two hours free time in Stanley before joining the Sea Spirit and sailing for South Georgia.
Sea Spirit (owned by Quark with FIC as Falklands’ agent) was chartered by Zegrahm and not only was this the first cruise ship visit of the season and passenger exchange, it was also a very special journey for Zegrahm.
This particular trip was originally meant to take place last season to celebrate Zegrahm’s 20th Anniversary, unfortunately the Clipper Adventurer ran aground in the Arctic last year so the trip was cancelled.
The name Zegrahm incorporates the initials of the six founders of the company, and four of those founders still lead expeditions.
The next passenger exchange for Falklands’ agent Sulivan Shipping is scheduled for November 12 when the Polar Pioneer, with a capacity for 54 passengers, will be in Stanley to drop off as well as receive new passengers.

Nov 01st, 2011 - 12:43 pm 0It was a prediction of the usual comments made by Argentines. You cant deny that I have summed the Argentine comments quite well.
Nov 01st, 2011 - 02:59 pm 0You can take away the LAN, the Falklands is working on alternatives at the benefit of others...LAN's and Argentina's loss, not ours.
