AH! I knew someone would publish something like this after this little episode on tuesday.

Does somebody think these men with weapons and hidden face are simple “street protestors”???

And appart from this... the Argentina we live in is not the same it was 10 years ago when people had no democratic ways of taking their voice to politicians and had no other choice but to take the streets... it is definitely not necessary to cut motorways to take your voice to the media. And it will be even better when the Media Communication law is fully applied, since citizens will have real tools to use their liberty of expression right.

@ 1 Stop trying to change reality with your inane comments. You and the likes of you and that Prostitute President of ours said that roadblocks was a great idea, when people did it to Mauricio Macri, but what happens now? is it not that great anymore Fermin??? The government is running out of money, it is called bloodletting, but in green, aaaah, the colour of money, now that's great :)

”the former leader financed the government’s own street militants groups (similar to brown shirts) that kept protestors in bay“

HEHEHE Who writes this drivel?. Certainly not a native English speaker. He surely meant ”at bay“. And what is this Mercopress.com site anyway? right-wing Uruguayans writing in English for their Falklands audience? Talk about a small niche. A niche of a niche, indeed.

And the bias starts with the choice of picture for the story, the intimidating masked protestors. Sadly there´s a small catch: the picture is of unemployed ”piqueteros”, surely taken back when such demonstrations were massive, 2003-2005. And the story refers to UNIONS, who do not like a single bit like the ones in the picture.

Anyway, good riddance Mercopress... keep trying. Your cheap bias shows from a distance.

Not the correct picture? Cost effective mechanism.but why after her success at the presidential does she start to reveal her intent to carry out the role of protecting the rich while the poor are expected to go to the top of the andes to protest, there are no roads there but then no one would notice.why not come clean and say that manifestations of discontent will be punished, corresponding the degree of disruption.this posture needs to be challenged now.

Like Obama and the SEIU, the Peronists call out their thug army to keep the people in line. This is a now a totalitarian society.

I am inclined to agree with the premise of Jorge.
The election is over, now comes the phase of switching public understanding to accept austerity.
This needs ' enemies of the people', hoodies and rioters, people who necessitate a powerful Government CONTROL response.
This will enable CFK to validate the repressive measures that she knows will be necessary as the shit progressively hits the fan.

@ 1 Stop trying to change reality with their stupid comments. You and people like you and the President of the prostitute said that our barricades was a great idea, when people did to Mauricio Macri, but what about now? Is not it true that large and Fermin? The government is running out of money, called blood bath, but green, aaaah, the color of money, now that is fine:)

Pathetic and sorry your comment, it shows you have no education to express your differences and always appeal to terrorism and the insult. Have an education and fascist discourse because they do not tolerate people who think differently than is normal in a democracy and for the worse insult to the president. It is striking that Mercopress always tolerated and allows your insults to Argentina. He does not do the same with England. I have reported this abuse and the comment is not deleted by the editor.

Quite correct Geoff.Yankeeland has problems and wether it's Obama or the next regime there the producers of wealth will have to go without while the rich accumulate at the economic rate.brazil won't escape, the banks there will have to compete globally

Only Britain would support a bunch of intransigent people as there are here.there is little reason to insult anyone least of all from stupid prejudiced people who should return to Britain where they might be welcomed or on the otherhand they'd prefer they stay in south America and out of their way

These goons are there to enforce CFK's wishes. Its not about rich versus poor but ratther about if you are part of the mafia (a connected Peronist) or not. Argentina is run like if Tony Soprano were President. CFK will steal all that she can from you, particularly if you are not a crony. Those minnows looking for a little mordita will be disappointed.

Ah yes Geoffrey old bou you have a new version of austerity, I see as the central bank predicts 9% growth for 2011 and car sales rocket ahead even faster in October to 34% up year on year. For the first 10 months sales are up 32%Argentina with a population 10% smaller than Spain will sell 100000 cars more in 2011 than the European country.
Well xbarilox if CFK is a prostitute i guess the Italians,English, spanish and gringoes better look to the red light districts to save themselves from another period of gloom.
According to the UN Argentina has in 2010 reached the stage of very high human development the highest level.compare that to when your Alianza was in power over 50% of the population in poverty and prostitution everywhere ahh yes but that didnt effect you too much on Ayacucho y Pacheco de Melo did it?

Indices might give a positive view but why would the right to highlight failings be so bad.is that because the gvt has a majority it is going to follow a path which will be unpopular.cars do not equate with free democratic society.with all the economic activity inc the costs of petrol, attached to cars it might boost economic activity to give them out free.wouldn't that be great no need for elections again !!! :-/

    O'G #1'9

You seem to discount burgeoning inflation as of no importance to the survival of the economy and the country.
Do you believe the 'official' inflation rate?
If so, what do you think will be the result of giving the workers pay-rises of three times the official inflation rate?

    I stand by my #9

u have been standing by it for years now Geoffrey in hope more than confidence. You of course will even be right once every decade or so but if Europe doesnt collapse completely i think Argentina will prove u wrong yet again.Yuleno there is no government in Europe or North America which has to face such a hostile media as CFK.What u cant handle is the increible economic success of the Kirchner governments in sharp contrast to the dreadful failure of the clowns u support

Sorry for you o'gara when the sun moves in sky it moves.when cfk get re-elected by such a majority, you must be thinking a hostile press is either an asset or it is ineffectual.I don't believe either, but I do believe that there is more than one way to win elections and one is to contest them on false promises as in this case.cfk will bend to global capitalism or will be destabilised.

CFK can only make money, print money or borrow money.

The lack of available money is national penury.
Capital (money) is what's needed to keep her people alive and happy.

She can make money if she trades abroad at a profit - otherwise she is re-cycling ever-diminishing resources.

She can print money and suffer the impacts of her money buying less each day - like Zimbabwe. She can even try to run 'two sets of books', each with different inflation rates. The trouble is that, internationally, only one set matters.

Or, she can borrow money from the IMF and World Bank - if she is deemed a 'good bet', ie. a reliable repayer. This is where history and credit ratings are weighed in the balance.

Nobody wants to see a country collapse (see how people are leaning over backwards to help Greece through), but some countries - like Zimbabwe - just have to be 'let go' until such time as their 'internal matters' and the facts of living in the real world become apparent to the ruler.

If there are other (legal) alternatives for her I would be pleased to hear them.

Greece is being used as the model for all economies.Spain Portugal and Italy spring to mind but all will need to take note.like when monetarist theory was introduced however the fear of that period will lead to compliance once Greece is a done deal.Ireland have!
