Argentina's car makers, a key pillar of the industrial sector, saw production cool in October from the record levels seen in recent months as demand from neighboring Brazil dropped off. Read full article
Typical Mercopress rubbish.October 2011 has seen an absolute record of Argentine exports to Brasil in one month 1,530 million dollars an increase of over 30% on 2010.(ah yes id bet Europeans would love a slow down with a 30% increase).Exports to Brasil are up over 18% in 2011.
Imports are also at record level up year on year 28,6% so much for the supposed blocking of imports.Brasil sold Argentina in October 1993 million dollars worth of goods.Argentina will very soon pass out the United States as a customer of Brasilian goods.
@Ogara
I keep seeing your vitriolic and misleading comments on various publications. Can you not read or understand the article - it's about the downturn in car sales in Brasil and the knock-on effect to Argentina. NOT about the alledged exports of the whole country.
Please try and focus on the issues.
Dont see what was vitriolic about criticizing an article trying to show Brasil supposed cooling down is leading to problems for Argentinas exporters when THE FACTS ARE ARGENTINAS EXPORTS TO BRASIL IN OCTOBER WERE A RECORD.
Is the issue not the twisted reporting of Mercopress?
Obviously the car industry is important to the country but one months fall in the midst of a year with huge growth while at the same time other exports boom is hardly the basis for a reasoned article.
So could i respectfully suggest the vitriol is all Mercosurs
@3 No, the facts (as stated by the trade & govt records) show that car exports have slowed. Statistically you are probably correct that Argentina had record exports in October (these are govt figures however and require verification)
I just cannot see how Mercopress is 'twisting' the figures in any way shape or form.
If we want to discuss twisting figures shall we start with the Argentinian inflation as stated by the CFK govt. Why is it 10% when the govt settled with the unions at TWICE that? Why do my Argetinian friends say it is more like 28%? Why (having got a big vote for her) does the govt ONLY 10 days after, put restrictions on USD purchases, repatriation of 'profits' on insurance companies and keep all multinational profits within Argentina? Does CFK really want to kill the influx of foreign businesses that have, so far, given rise to the 'export rush'?
Seems like a death wish to me all for USD250M (govt figures)!
Argentina getting ready to start printing $200 and $500 peso notes..nah no inflation here, wait only good inflation, no wait no inflation yeah that's right!
I can't wait until the lawsuits are filed for the underpayment of the CER bond interest payments for the last 10 yrs, another decade another bankruptcy. Get the helicopter ready CFK...
