    @ 1 O gara, all parties have and end. Let's see what is the end of this kirchnerist party, stealing money and wasting more money. It's not only good news for Argentina, but also for Brazil, Peru, Uruguay, etc etc. so it's not like this is happening only in Argentina because of Cristina de Kirchner. South America is having a party, but we will see who has been wise enough when the party is over O gara, and who was right and who was wrong. If the end is another crisis worse than 2001, Cristina will need more than just a helicopter.

    Cooling is good.
    The last thing Argentina needs is a runaway chain-reaction.
    Being seen to play the game well and ethically brings not only Cooling but also Stability. This will help the man in the Argentinian street.

    Yes; “cooling” is good.........

    The dollar hysteria has “cooled” today and will continue to “cool” in the next days and weeks, slowly dissapearing into oblivion.........

    No “runaway chain-reaction” in sight nowhere near Argentina. Only in the mind of some turnips*.
    *(species of mental vegetables overrepresented in here at MercoPress..........)

    Argentina is not “playing the game” anymore.......... Not with the old set of rules anyhow............ This is certainly helping the man in the Argentinean streets.

    What Elaine and xbarilox and indeed the governments of the EU and the US dont understand is when you run a surplus all the time the country if not immune to crisis is highly resistant as we in Argentinas case.Argentina is also much less indebted than even Brasil so as long as CFK runs an economy in surplus Argentina will be more resistant to the crisis than anyone.A huge fall in grain prices is more dangerous than some little speculation

    You seem to be under the illusion that Argentina can walk on water. You are not immune to what is happening in the world. A huge fall in grain prices is exactly what could happen if the world goes into recession. A reliance on exports has scuppered Argentina before.

    Worried about inflation? Wait until you see deflation in action.

    Ha ha ha We have been entertained by your earnest hopes inflation would destroy Argentina for two years now.BUT NOW IN UTTER DESPERATION ITS DEFLATION.What are Georgie and Tea Boy 3 going to do.now Let me see Georgie if Argentinas has 5% deflation but -3% growth that will be great because really Argentina will be growing ha ha ha !que boludos!!!!.
    Really Elaine when you get to BA spend a day or two on Corrientes looking at those books your friends cant find and you might get something decent on economics ¿ si se puede entender algo?
    The one decent point you have made in years is that falling grain prices are a danger to Argentinas economy but not nearly as dangerous as before with the huge diversification undertaken by the Kirchners

    Again, you are so intent on making anyone that disagrees with, or questions, the Argentine government an enemy. I am not.

    I wonder if you were in Argentina ten years ago? Did you have everything you worked for taken? Did you know people that commited suicide? Did you witness the riots and looting that lasted for months? The 25% unemployment? The lack of food, especially in the north? I ask because I have talked to many people that do have those experiences and fear it happening again. It is a very real fear when they know about the capital flight, the inflation, failure to pay debts etc.

    I would not wish that on anyone in any country. And I certainly would not want to see the Argentine people got through it again.

    Little “Candle Light Dinners” Elaine wonders if Mr. O'Gara was in Argentina 10 years ago.....................

    Well...................

    I have been an aware Argentinean citizen during the 50's, the 60's, the 70's, the 80's, the 90's, the 00's and I'm still here today, at the 10's..........

    That gives me some insight about my country politics, idiosyncrasy and positive current situation………

    Certainly more insight than a frivolous British girl, always commenting about her many ”friends”, could muster during a couple of months ...................

    Wonder what those friends names are……….?
    Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey and Chandler, perhaps…….?

    #11, 12,

    * Did you have everything you worked for taken?
    * Did you know people that commited suicide?
    * Did you witness the riots and looting that lasted for months?
    * The 25% unemployment?
    * The lack of food, especially in the north?
    I ask because I have talked to many people that do have those experiences
    - and fear it happening again.
    It is a very real fear when they know about
    * the capital flight,
    * the inflation,
    * failure to pay debts
    * etc.

    Sr. Think,
    You claim insight, but do you still have memory?

    Did_it _REALLY_happen?

    Or is it all a figment of Elaine's imagination?

    It's not a fantasy with you Elaine it's the fact that you fear for the people of Argentina but when they experience the growth of it's economy you are negative and when it contracts no doubt you will be negative.if grain prices contract won't the USA and the UK benefit and won't china benefit both in input costs and it's trade advantage.

    (13) No fantasy here Ms. Elaine…..

    I only act in response to your vitriolic attacks against Argentina and our Government.
    Your stupid comments about our president’s inexistent “shoe shopping sprees”.
    Your stupid comments about our president’s femininity.
    Your stupid comments about our president’s health tribulations.

    (14) Yes, we have memory……..
    It did really happen and we know why………
    That’s why we are emerging, rising and growing since 2003…
    You NEVER answered me……… Have you ever been to Argentina?

    @15 It would be a very shallow person who revelled in a situation where one country's economic disaster profitted another. I never have held that view and neither should anyone. IMO.

    @16
    Your own President releases information about her health problems.
    You only have to use your own eyes to see she spends a LOT of money on clothes.
    You are confused if you think I attack your President's feminity. That is the remit of the misogynist to make disparaging remarks about women. I have never found it necessary to behave like a man to be successful in business. No woman should. : )

    Really, you should question why you focus all your inate anger on women posters.

    #16 “Have you ever been to Argentina?”

    Not yet, Think, but I am trying to book a connecting flight through BA to Stanley. Not having much success though ;-)

    Hell, I live in Brasil and haven't been up-river much beyond Manaus!

    I've seen many European cities so BA does not really interest me.
    One day, however - before I die - the geographer in me will drag me up the amazon and down the andes.

    Elaine I dont think you are my enemy not at all. I simply find most of your comments ridiculous nothing more.You have also suggested to me before as well as Think that my replies to your boludeces are in some way connected to your femininity.Utter claptrap you are merely being treated with absolute equality without any pity for being femail.Yes indeed I was in Argentina in 2001 and how sad it was to see a wonderful country and wonderful people brought to its knees by stupid neo liberal policies exactly what the Europeans are applying now with the same savage results for the people not the banks.The Kirchners have used policies which benefit the people and applied them with caution ensureing now almost a decade of Chinese level growth.
    Geoffrey the reason you havent been to Buenos Aires is your mind is closed.The statement that Buenos Aires is a European city is trite to say the least.
    I have no doubt however that if you live a normal lifespan you will indeed be able to fly to Buenos Aires and catch a connecting flight to Puerto Argentino

    #20 :-)
    I'm not a big-city man any more;
    too much rich/poverty; too much pollution & traffic jams; too many people.
    My mind is still very much open to The Call Of The Wild;
    really born out of my time,
    perhaps I had an earlier life under the name of Joe Meek 1810-1875 (ask Think, he'll know).

    Elaine you want pity?surely you want to be judged on your words and deeds.as I'm sure you would judge others.and argentina'seconomy is growing by most assessments and next year might not grow as much but that is a prediction on statistics which are even more dangerous to use as facts.

    Think,

    * John James Audubon (1785-1851) Ornithologist, naturalist, and painter of birds
    * Darwin [1828 & 1833: Beagle 1 & 2].
    * William Henry Hudson (1841 – 1922) author, naturalist, and ornithologist.

    As a young man I spent many happy hours in the British Museum of Natural History and the Royal Zoological Society, where these great naturalists and observers of nature 'potentiated' me towards a life in the 'new' studies of ecology.
    (My screen-saver is an Audubon composite)

    Thanks for Idle Days In Patagonia.
    I will fill some steamy, meditative-days in Bahia with 'the clear airs of Patagonia'.

    @25 No woman needs pity; especially not from men. : ) It is the fact that someone would use the word 'pity' in relation to women that speaks volumes.

    I am not sure why O'Gara needed to jump in to speak for Think - my question was addressed to him - and he does repeatedly refer to my gender in posts; take a look. He has taken a couple of facts about how I travel on business and woven a huge fantasy about me that bears no resemblance to reality and overlooks the fact that his idol, CFK, lives a life of luxury at his expense. I earn my money.

    But this is way off topic, so I am moving on. : )
