The new Chair of the Falkland Islands Fishing Company Association condemned Argentina for their two month early opening of their illex (squid) fishing season, “with complete disregard for conservation of the stock”. Read full article
I'd be quite interested to know if there have been any other examples around the world of a country forcing their commercial fishery to extinction for political reasons, or if this kind of criminality is unique to Argentina.
It smacks of desperation to me. We will have oil production, and we won't be reliant on fishing. You will have made yourselves pariahs of the scientific and environmental world and ruined your own fishing communities for no good reason. Good own goal Argentina, again.
I feel sorry for the Argentine people ,who have to suffer and suffer and then they make nature suffer as well , all because of the most stupid government ever !!! It wont make a difference to the people of the Falklands but it will make a hugh difference to the squid.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to have such a conservation area around the Malvinas.A 1,000,000 sq mile area and occupiers selling fishing licences to catch nothing.Argentina's resources saved from poachers.
Scientific research might then be done into what effect persistent criminal behaviour has on the thinking of the perpertrators .
@7 Yuleno the dumb - Argentina's resources saved from poachers You may not be aware of this due to your lack of brain cells, but fish stocks are only a resources whilst they still exist, once extinct they are no longer a resource, what will your fishing industry catch then, Carbs? i here they are quite popular around an argentina gentials. lol
What is malvinese waters, and can I buy it do you have still or carbonated or a nice fruity one?????????????????????????????????

#3 why don't ask the penguins ?
Because of shortages in gentoo penguin prey around the Falkland Islands, thousands of birds have died of starvation during their annual molting season. Diminished prey availability is likely due to overfishing, however the government of the Falkland Islands has thus far been unwilling to implement fishing bans near gentoo penguin habitat so the future of gentoos in that area is uncertain
www.marinebio.org/species.asp?id=650
that is exacly what happens when you let illegal aliens run your country.
Penguin eggs were so prized in the Falkland Islands that the colony declared National Penguin Day, a holiday when even school children were given the day off to collect eggs.
primarily to control the live animal trade. Local protections for individual species and their habitats vary by country. Guano mining and egg collecting are now illegal in the South American countries where the Humboldt occurs. Nonetheless, birds are still killed and used for fishing bait or eaten.

”year 1763 (Spain feared that the Falklands would become a rear base to attack her Peruvian gold), Louis Antoine de Bougainville was ordered by the French government to dismantle his colony, to sell the islands to the Spanish (the King of Spain paid him 603,000 pounds for the islands). On 31 January 1767, he met in Rio de la Plata Don Felipe Ruiz Puente, commanding the frigate La Esmeralda and La Liebre (the Hare) and future governor of the Malvinas Islands (Falklands), to take possession of the islands, and to evacuate the French population”

More bad news for penguins. Argentina's Magellanic penguin population down 20% due to anchovy fishing http://www.wildlifeextra.com/go/news/magellanic-penguins534.html#cr
In 2003, Argentina's Federal Fisheries Council (FFC) approved a program to increase anchovy exploitation, resulting in the largest annual catches in over 30 years. Anchovy revenues are intended to replace those of the Argentine hake, for which a state of emergency was declared after being fished near exhaustion in 1999. The FFC's decision also reflects a rising demand for fish meal to feed the global aquaculture industry, which has expanded by over 50 percent since 1998.
fishing is a great source of income tax for everyone in the Antartic, too bad that global demand will most likely destroy it for everyone, I say Argentina better get in on the action before the brits steals them all, if Argentina doesn't act now brits will declare the oceans fish to be theirs, as this report shows, did anyone tell the illegal aliens in Malvinas Argentina that the oil nor the fish is theirs and that they overstayed their welcome and now it's time for the squaters to go home.
Teaboy #8 what an intelligent remark and I thought when no fish where left in the sea, that would be known as 0%.I'm glad your not always making tea and can enlighten me with this kind of knowledge
Using teaboy's logic Briton, your country's gvt won't always be weak.It will get weaker and weaker and(well you know the rest)
The Malvinas are Argentinian and you are guest(uninvited) of the republic of argentina
They (argentina) will have to learn how to look after there natural resources! I think you should let the Falklands show you how its done as there fishing policy sets global standards in preserving fish stocks.
Long Live the Falklands.
The fish aren't of great importance to the people occupying the Malvinas as they were, to judge by the posts here. They must be hoping for oil to keep the interests of the UK gvt in protecting their status as occupiers.
The people on the Falklands live there life in harmony with nature and pay there own way with health care, schooling, industry, farming, fishing, raising there own taxes with defence being a UK funded operation which also has the benefit of having area's to carry out exercises without offending any country argentina doesnt count.
The oil and gas deposits around these islands will bring many benefits to the Falklanders. And lastly the malvinas NEVER existed past present or future.
Long Live the Falklands.
Nice talk.pity about it's accuracy. How can you live in harmony with nature.someone needs to defend you because the islands are occupied and they are las Malvinas. So you do not live in harmony with anyone except yourselves perhaps and your fish license business.
China, India and Pakistan love fish Argentina should stop waiting for UN laws to regulate the ocean and start exploiting the fishing indusrty as Malvinas does, we can all agree the fish is not british into it crosses that UK's imaginary line, a big fishing fleet will bring a lot of income to Argentina and little economic hope for the fakland island company.
@20
@21
The Truth shall shine forth, I have no idea about this fairy story that you learnt at school about the land of malvinas where the unicorn lives and goblins live in the mountains and a warm breeze washes across the palm tree fringed island while you are being served by grass skirted maidens bringing your rum punch, OH god I cant read anymore of these fabricated argentine lies!!!!!
The Falklands does not just rely on fishing and has other diverse industries to keep there economy Vibrant and Fresh!!!!!!
Long Live the Falklands.
@15 - Yuleno I think you will find my logic is correct, once the species of fish or squid that argentina annually overfish become extinct, then they are not longer a resource. In order to be classed as a resource then its needs to exist.
As for your remarks about the UK, i fail to see the connection between the UK and the lack of fish stocks in the south atlantic around latin america due to Argetine overfishing. But then you dumb CFK employed bloggers use any chance you get to post nonsense and irrelevant propaganda. More fool you i say, as you clearly only make yourselve look dumb by posting such rubbish.
#22 is your other industry defence spending
And what about your dreams of oil
#23 you are wrong.think it must be your logic.you think it's right, naturally.therefore you think you're in harmony with nature.Do you not catch more fish than you can eat?
@23 Lmao, sorry but how can i been wrong, when there is no more left of a specific species of fish, then it is no longer a resource, which is exactly what am saying? You trying to make out the a non exsitent fish species is a resources, well its not as a non exsitent species of fish is a non exsitent resource. A non exsitent resource is no more in existence then that of your imaginary islands you call the malvinas that asl does not exist.
I suggest you research what the definition of the word Resource is. Though your probably incapable of getting that proton size brain of yours to understand it. Now i wonder if you share the same characteristics as a proton i.e. constant fading in and out of existence? As it sure sounds like you do with all the nonsense you come out with. lol Yuleno how is your business doing because if you get your numbers wrong as you did in your post @#25,. And what numbers would they be? I have simply made it clear that in order for something to be deemed a resource it has to exist, if a species of fish becomes extinct then it no longer exists, i.e. Zero fish of the species. I would love to know how my numbers in post #25 are wrong consider i did no calculations based on any numbers, and the points i made are purely inline with common sense.
As for my buisness, well since january this year the net profit is, up till last month, is approximately 6 million pounds, for your information thats 39,931,896.36 argentinian peso's at todays exchange rate.
Oh and for your information, you do not need to be good at maths to start a successful company at turn it into a multi million pound company. You just need to be good at what you do, provide a customer focus service with high quality products and know the market inside out. Off course having a few brain waves on ideas that help to maximum profit at minimum cost is a bonus too.
Now please explain to us how an extinct species of fish would be a resource? As we are all dying to hear your explanation.
Or perhaps you should do yourself a favour and shut now before you make yourself look an even bigger idiot then you already do.

Teaboy the man with the keyboard hand and millions of pesos check the number @Post 25.Does it not say #23 which is one of your posts.Arguing with yourself is a bad sign or you got your numbers wrong.
Either that our your brain is incapable of giving the right intructions to your fingers when typing your crap.Thats what you wrote in #25. Typo error or carelessness. Are you sure your figures of your net profits are correct. How where able to be so precise and the year not over. And you make the teaboy,Superman.
@33 Oh am sorry, was my obvious error of referring to post #23 instead of your post in #24 when i made post #25 not obvious to you. Am sure it was obvious to everyone else that it was a simple typo, and i would hardly call the crap you sprout on here typo errors like mine in regards to referring to #23 instead of #24. You know, no one likes a patronising prat, don't you? Especially when your trying to argue that a species of fish that has become extinct is still a resource, when it clearly no longer exist, which is like saying oil is still a resource when the earth finally funs dry of all oil.
As for my business figures, well its called keeping accurating records of accounts, i.e. details of all invoices, purchases orders, deal slips (Which show gross profit per deal made), Vat incoming, Vat out going, Taxes, Wages, Subtracting all such expenses mentioned and bills from the monthly total turn over gives you a monthly net profit. Hence why i said up til the end of last month as clearly this month is not over, so i do not have this months final figures. Also any accounting software can work out your precise net profit from selected monthly periods. But to be honest my business accounts are no concern of yours and quite frankly are non of your dam business anyway.
@36 Am not certain who or what your referring to in regards to your comment about time management.
But if your referring to myself and the time i spend on these comment boards and the times in which i make my posts. Well the benefit of being my own boss and owner of a company means i do not need to be in the UK or at the company offices unless i choose to be or have business matters to attend to at the company offices that others can not make decisions on or if they not have the authority to act upon them. In other words for all you know i may not even be in the UK when making my posts, yet this site will still show the time as per the sites owners elected timezone for their site. So when posting at 1:30am according to the sites time zone, i may actually be posting at 12:33pm from Australia. Or maybe i have just got back home from night out having a meal or having been to the movies or the pub. Whatever the reasons, what i do with my time is or no one elses concern.
No teaboy it's not your time posting,it's the time you spend converting budgetary figures to actual net profit.shouldn't you be happy with your budget analysis, and last years fiqures,as a poster.
It doesn't matter to me,but you could spend your spare time learning or enjoying yourself

Teaboy the man with the keyboard hand and millions of pesos check the number @Post 25.Does it not say #23 which is one of your posts.Arguing with yourself is a bad sign or you got your numbers wrong.

Dec 16th, 2011 - 11:44 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Is soo boring this forum....
Just cheap shots...
Dec 17th, 2011 - 01:39 am - Link - Report abuse 0As for my business figures, well its called keeping accurating records of accounts, i.e. details of all invoices, purchases orders, deal slips (Which show gross profit per deal made), Vat incoming, Vat out going, Taxes, Wages, Subtracting all such expenses mentioned and bills from the monthly total turn over gives you a monthly net profit. Hence why i said up til the end of last month as clearly this month is not over, so i do not have this months final figures. Also any accounting software can work out your precise net profit from selected monthly periods. But to be honest my business accounts are no concern of yours and quite frankly are non of your dam business anyway.
Interesting. So much attention to detail.I am impressed with your time management.
Dec 17th, 2011 - 09:33 am - Link - Report abuse 0Anyway enough about that.
@36 Am not certain who or what your referring to in regards to your comment about time management.
Dec 18th, 2011 - 10:27 am - Link - Report abuse 0But if your referring to myself and the time i spend on these comment boards and the times in which i make my posts.
Dec 18th, 2011 - 01:00 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It doesn't matter to me,but you could spend your spare time learning or enjoying yourself
