Divisions over Europe within the British coalition government were exposed when David Cameron's deputy said an EU summit that ended with the prime minister deploying his veto was a bitter disappointment and bad for Britain. Read full article
Clegg will pull the plug when it suits his party. The City government is already a lame duck.Salmond is already informing the Scotish people that their concerns were nothing to the City. The UK is on the point of breakup but Cameron only thinks of the City.as.has always been the case
Cameron & Clegg are not stupid they know the EU will have to come back to them for that signature if they want to enshrine the treaty in EU law. Without it the other 26 will only have an agreement between themselves & agreements can simply be broken.
@3 You should get together with Clegg. You are both equally delusional. Support for the Liberal Democrats is down to 7%. As people who once supported them realise that the LibDem interest is not Britain but power.
As for Salmond, he is also delusional. He has yet to realise that if Scotland leaves the Union it will have nothing. Most of the industry in Scotland belongs to the UK and will either leave/relocate or have to be paid for. Most services also belong to the UK. Scotland will have no defences. Nor will it have North Sea gas or oil. That belongs to the UK. If Scotland wants it, it will have to pay for it. There will be no more subsidies from England. Scotland will be broke and in poverty. It will not be an EU member because the UK will block it. It won't even have reasonable links with the continent of Europe. It has no international airlines, no shipping companies and it is highly likely that trucks to or from Europe will not be permitted to cross England. Scotland's GDP is 6% of that of the UK. Scotland's population is 8% of the UK's.
I think we should try to hang onto Scotland. If things get really tough we can sell it on ebay. : )
It is quite ridiculous to suggest Scotland is about to leave the UK. If they want to, so be it, but now is not the time for the dear Scots.
Nick Clegg lost a lot of support when he back-tracked on many of the promises he made to the voting public. The LibDems made a lot of completely unrealistic promises because they never thought they would be elected, or in any position of power, and actually have to deliver any of them.
Sadly, NC has weakened the LibDems even more and is unlikely to keep his leadership long term. Shame because I always enjoyed having a three-way race. Two fighting for the middle ground and one injecting a bit of fantasy government into the proceedings. Does anyone else miss Screaming Lord Sutch?

Isn't he the Business Secretary - oh no! That's Vince Cable - oh that's much the same though without the intelligence of Screaming Lord Sutch.
Clegg has tasted power, if he fxcks this up the lib dems will disappear,
The latest polls put them below UKIP,,, he is a fool and a brainwashed European dummy.
As for Scotland, she will stay with us, unless mr salmon s anti English rubbish gets his way, and sends Scotland from an elected government, to an Unelected government,
Scotland the brave, or Scotland the foolish, it all depends on the fish,
The UK needs a referendum and get of this greedy corrupt gravy train,
As for silly argie bloggers, it show their total anti British, as they should be with us,
[Defending the right to ones very own destiny,
Instead of criticising us, for doing the right thing,
Ah, and the Americans, as proved today, The UK financial institutions [London] is actually bigger than the Americans, and two thirds of the worlds fineness goes through London,
They have a banking system in the UK that does not trade with Europe,
And with over 100 military establishments in the UK,
They would be very foolish to dump us for the French,
Alas stranger things have happened,
[they might dump us for Argentina ]
An hilarious thought ..

I have to give it to you Briton - you do come out with some stunners. Brilliant!
:o)
Mind you, if O'Barmy gets re-elected I wouldn't put that past him.
They do say

In which case it is definitely NOT in argentines interest, for the British to go it alone,
For they may yet find that even talking comes at a price
And the British, always collects the interest

Dec 12th, 2011 - 07:52 am - Link - Report abuse 0All the more reason Britain should leave the EU; perhaps British politicians can finally rid themselves of the 'special relationship' delusion.

Dec 12th, 2011 - 08:53 am - Link - Report abuse 0It could be a real chance for Cameron to steal a snap election on a solemn undertaking to have a free vote on coming out of the EU.
Dec 12th, 2011 - 10:29 am - Link - Report abuse 0It would be a landslide win, leaving the LibDems dead in the water and be the start of a new phase for the country.
I don't know if Camerons balls are big enough though.
