“Very soon we are going to have an ambassador in the United Kingdom” announced Argentine president Cristina Fernandez. The post has remained vacant since 2008 and the announcement comes in the midst of a new round of the ongoing dispute with the UK over the Falklands and other South Atlantic Islands sovereignty. If the UK Government does not approve the candidate, then Argentina will have no Ambassador in London.

We've managed so far for four years without, I see no reason to approve the presence of someone that is not obviously needed.

@1 Totally agree, as i do not see why we should have any diplomatic relations with argentina whilst they continue their illegal actions and their act of war such as the economic and maritime bloackade of the islands.

I personal do not talk to bullies, i'd rather stick the V sign salute in their face and tell them to f off and come back when they have learn to behave like adults that respect the rights of others.

If we do have the joy of welcoming an Argentine ambassador then he better bring me a couple of bottles of Malbec.

I think we will find that the apparent ban on FI vessels becomes a verbal nonsense that is not implemented. In fact it is already being broken by the presence of the FI flagged Jacqueline in Uruguay. Perhaps this is why Think has declined my little wager.

If he/she comes then the Argentine ambassador will have a nice cushy number at the expense of the Argentine tax payer. I might even send him/her and invitation to next years RKH AGM :-)

you said that argentinien are bullies, you make me laugh, which is the position of the brits, 178 years in our islands, a military base in our islands for years, stealing our resources for years, and bla,bla... tea spoon, make me laugh at the stupid things . It is over , man!! understand!!!

Kiwi - the only thing that is over is this ban on FI flagged vessels visiting Uruguay. The Uruguayan coast guard have said that they have no legal tool to prevent FI flagged ships accessing their ports :-)

The only thing that is over is a $4.XX peso, the central bank spent almost u$1Biliion supporting it the last few days. They don't have much more left until there is a full blown run on the currency. I read an article that private economists and business people predict 35% inflation with a flat to 3% growth next year. I wonder what a $6 peso will do to those predictions?

It is very clear that Falkland Islands are Argentinian. Studying a little of history and geography, is enough to realize of that. Of course, in the world some countries believe that have good reasons to steal territories (England) but really only have the military power to impose their interests.
All the world know this true, including the england people.

    @Kiwi #8

They never belonged to argentinia in the frist place as they never belonged to the Viceroyalty of rio del plata. Not only that the Viceroyalty actually gave the islands, despite not owning them, to luis vernet as repayment for debts owed to him. So you actually give them away even though they were never yours to give. Hence why vernet ask the british consulate in BA for permission to set up a commercial trading post.

Also i have said a few times now that patagonia and tierra del fuego did not become part of argentina until the 1880's even then that was only when you first started going down their and killing of the rest of the natives there. So you claim under territorial integrity and continental shelf argument is flawed, because at the time you did not have territorial integrity of patagonia or tierro del fuego and therefore did not have territorial integrity of the islands and without territorial ingerity prior to britain setting a there first settlement on the islands in 1700's, your claim is 100% legally flawed and 100% historically flawed.

You don't have make me laugh with your crap, in fact even more so as your so pathethic due to your willingness to live in new zealand and enjoy the benefits and luxuries there. If you love the falklands so much F off back to argentina and join their military, so out boys can do us all a favour and shoot your sorry arse, because if argentina keeps this up their will be war. The fact the British government is now stepping up diplomatic actions and prepare military plans and assets to deal with this blockade as we speak just goes to show that the lions starting to growl, and when a lion growls they always follow it up with a massive roar. Which when britain lion roars, argentina will feel the full force and will quickly learn its lesson the hard way. Ohh and it won't be able to play the victim card as the whole world can see they are the aggressors now. Just like they were in 1982.

There are a lot of arguments in favour of Argentina. Please, don´t read only the version provided by England if you want to know the true. I think that is not necessary to write here all these arguments. I invite all the people to do an impartial analysis.
It´s clear that England has an important military force, but it is not enough to have the reason.

History doesn't lie - and Argentina has no argument

    http://falklandstimeline.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/falklands-history.pdf

And 30 years is the wink of an eye. I, and a good many of the British people, remember 1982 clearly. It won't be forgotten for 3 generations.

Keep your Ambassador - there is nothing to talk about !

As everybody can see in the last comments, it is very difficult to get an impartial analysis. But, there is something that you need to know: Sooner or later the truth will prevail, all the world know that Falkland Islands are Argentinian

@ 17 The world already knows that Argentina want to colonise the Falkland Islands because President Plastic Fantastic has pretty much grabbed every resource in her own country to purchase votes and needs another source.

The last time Argentina went to war they had a shopping list.

    1) The Falkland Islands
    2) Chile

Chile will soon join the rest of South America in isolating completely the last colonial relic of the South Atlantic.
Imagine the pathetic sight of for the first time ever the City ambassador in Puerto Arenas begging the villeros to put pressure on Santiago to keep the flights going.
But realities will dawn sooner or later Lan wants to be part of booming Buenos Aires and the worlds biggest airline only thinks in dollars the same way it has always been but now the boot is on the other foot!!!!!!!!!

Funny how you failed to respond on another post you terrorist loving scumbag.
Your post above is comical. You are truly a “paid idiot” (not patriot, I had to spell it out because he wouldn't understand).
So you want Christina to take up IRA tactics eh (other post)? Said by a true coward. I suppose you think the thousands dropped into the sea by the junta is acceptable as well. Of course you do. Because you have the brain capacity of a bacteria. You would love to bring back those dark days wouldn't you?

    I todays Penguin News.....

    Defending your
    rights daily
    UNFORTUNATELY this year I
cannot be in the Falklands due to
the death of my father, who was
the Head of the San Bernardo
    Fire Department in Argentina. He
died on July 8 after a brief fight
    against cancer.
I am now preparing to travel
for the thirtieth anniversary of the
day when both countries were liberated.
I want to be with you, the
    people whose right to self-determination
    I defend every day.
I read your column in the Penguin
    News (website) and I ask
you to forgive the people of my
    country for their insults; they
don’t know what they are doing
or why they are doing it. Perhaps
they should have had to collect
the bodies which used to emerge
on the beaches of my city as a
    product of the military genocide
    of the seventies and eighties.
As you know, when I was in
Stanley in 2010 I felt very much
at home. You and the people of
the town were very friendly and
with time I have been able to
make more friends now that FIRS
    is available by internet.
    I am looking for accommodation
for a month in June and send
you a hug from a friend in Argentine
    San Bernardo who defends
    your right to self-determination
on a daily basis, despite all the
    dangers,
    Gustavo Catulo
    Argentina

Where were we? Will the Argentine ambassador manage 5 days before he is shot through the head? Probably not. Who cares?

The Falkland Island is one of the the lot of territories stolen by UK. All the people know that this country (UK) has a long list of territories stolen. Most of them for different reasons some day were returned. However UK didn´t returned the Falkland Islands yet. Because it is possible that some oil can be extracted there. All impartial people know that UK doesn´t have valid arguments to steal these territories. The arguments of UK are too weak to be believed. You need to know that there are a lot of people in several countries and continents that have realized of that since a long time ago.
