Britain on Thursday signalled its readiness to use military force if necessary to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, warning Iran not to miscalculate over the West's determination to prevent disruption to the key shipping route. Read full article
I suppose that the echo of the closing of the Suez Canal reminds the British that to deploy the fighting forces against the desires of our US 'brothers' is to welcome defeat by the locals.
Lucky that the UK and the US are talking with one voice over this Hormuz issue.
Sooner or later Iran, unless the people get rid of the Mullas, et al, will get what it deserves.
Can you see the rest of the Arab world coming to their aid? Of course not, they would suffer just as badly as the rest of us will if the Straits are closed. That is not to say they will come to aid us or the US, even if it gets to a devasting war.
Perhaps it would be better to bomb these muslim neandetals back to the stone age now than allow another 10 years of uncontrolled arming themselves further.
Anybody remember the conflict 10 years ago, the one involving rubber boats? This bunch have proper ships now with mid-range missiles that would have to be neutralized before any further action could be taken on the ground.
Like Argentina, I feel sorry for the ordinary people being held in the Dark Ages by their 'leaders'.
We are all here with the UK /USA friendship for spreading the responsibility for gunboat talk. It's if sanctions are applied they will close the straits. Not for no reason.Let UK/USA get rid of all nuclear weapons totally and just leave the country they armed with them,Israel, and the problem will be a middle eastern affair. But no,the capitalist system cannot risk the consequences of that.So this is a direct cost of that wonderful system of capitalism which is portrayed as such a beneficial form of organising human economic activity.

what brothers, the US isn't your brother. They are your master (US: Jump UK, UK; how high master). Back to the topic, that was then. Now, both are financially in trouble, love to deny it, they are desperate for a war (Only way to get chumps like you behind them) and China and russia made it clear, an attack (include on pakistan) on Iran is an attack on China and russia soil. Now do you really believe the US is ready for another lost war? Answer is no, neither the UK, except blowhards here and never served in the army.

Here speak the voice of the argentine bloggers who will no doubt be hiding behind the skirt of brazil, while the liberators once again free democracy from the mad mullahs,

of that. So this is a direct cost of that wonderful system of capitalism which
If they close the straits it will effect everybody, so all democracies should back this,
// just leave ,Israel, and the problem will be a middle eastern affair. But no, the capitalist system cannot risk the consequences/////
Sadly very wrong, if the Israelis are allowed to whack Iran or any other Arab country, it will engulf the whole Arab world, as the Arabs do not like the Jews, [sadly a fact]
And the who Arab world would rise against the Israelis, and this would again drag the Europeans and the Americans into it,
One little sparks can alight the whole box of fireworks,
And South America would NOT be immune,
Just a thought .

I know you are very wise man, all you said is true #10 but not enough
becouse that the current Molla regime is from US where has been on panic why of the fearing about the likely fragmentation of Iran ,for this reason why Americans like hornets and their servants English ( I am not saying British ) who like worker bees turning ,turning turning around Iran to protect it.
If yanqui hadn't armed Israel, wouldn't the middle east be peaceful and the Jewish state would be a democracy of the kind that the USA/UK axis of evil wants to install in the Arab spring phenomen.Good relations with other countries is the best way to secure peace, not imposing your will through violence.

There are no evil axes,
The day you guys stop supporting the dictators of this world, will be the day, Argentina just might climb another rung.
Without oil, the whole world will suffer, but you are right, it was the Americans who fully aided the Israelis, and others followed,
But the future is of more concern, the west should have stopped Iran years ago, and removed their big weapons, but that is the price you pay, for waiting, hoping for peace, sooner or later,
It happens, just like the Argies to be fair, if the brits had dealt with you, the first time you sabre rattled, we to would not be waiting for the evitable to happen,
Waiting may be good for the sole, but no good for the living,
As the dead have all the time in the world .

Same colonial imperial military solution from you.Others don't rely on the USA to make our decision and soon your masters will be another declining power that will be dreaming about it's past.
Worth bearing in mind that the shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz are not in Iranian waters. Therefore, Iran would be in breach of UNCLOS and interfering in the waters of another sovereign state.
Much like Argentina really.
Iran would be interfering in the legitimate trade of Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Oman.
Much like Argentine interferes in the legitimate trade of South American countries such as Chile and Uruguay. And British Overseas Territories.
You may well be right,
But passing it, is the least of your problems,
You see,
Their British, we have them, you do not,
And as long as they wish to be British, then that is that,

Yes, I agree Yul 'does a Forgetit' when pushed into a corner,
but - like Forgetit - he presents some of the most cogent arguments on the site when we give him the opportunity and the time to present his argument.
And, for god's sake, we need input from intelligent continentals. This site would wither and die without some well-presented points and counter-points.
And yes, I count him as a web-friend, even though his politics are a million miles away from my own.
IM sure if we were wrong, we would apologise,
but just like his mother country, he looks for moral support to defend what we all knew was wrong, again getting others to believe he is right and the brits are wrong,
Reminds me of someone,
