The foolish actions of the British in the Libya affair cost them about 200 million pounds; money that they had to borrow, and money that they sorely need to get out of a double dip recession - the net result was the installation of a strict muslim dictatorship style “sharia” government. This is NOT the style of democracy that the West should be wasting there money on. We are not are brothers keeper.

I think that asking Brasil to promote 'Arab Spring' political freedom - meaning permanent islamic theocracies - is not the best way to get Brasil on board with 'Western Values'.

    Mr Hague said:

    1) “..It’s one of the emerging powers of the world”

    2) “…It’s a country which shares a lot of our values…”

    3) “..a country which is relatively easy for British people to trade
    and deal with”

    4) “Brazil …………it’s going to be the centre of a huge amount of
    attention over the next decade..”

    5) “ (Brazil) ..is a country that we must not neglect…”

    6) “...Hague is a strong supporter of Brazil’s aspirations to become
a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council..”

    7) “...Britain’s business links with Brazil are increasing, and proudly points out that there have been 14 ministerial visits..”

    8) “ So you can see the trebling, quadrupling of our effort that we are putting in to the relationship with Brazil”

    9) “..Hague said that it is time for emerging “new world” powers, like Brazil, to play a more prominent role..”

    10) “..“With a country like Brazil, which shares so much of our values of supporting democracy and human rights at home..”

Is not humiliating and desperate behave to see that bootlicking attitude from Mr Hague (high officer in FCO) after seeing concrete actions from Brazil´s in Argentina´s Malvinas support as well the strong Brazilian position about it... ?

Are we witnessing of the decline of UK personalized by this this poor soul attitude ?? ..... honestly without whishes to offend this is pathetic.

    LatAm time is coming…no doubts.

Utter rubbish, when Argentina trades with or talks to Brazil, you claim it as a victory,
When Britain does it, you call it crawling,
What does that make your opinion , and of Argentina then,
It is just anti British rhetoric, as simple as that,
You are perhaps jealous that the UK government is getting on with Brazil, and wish to do more trade,
Their is absolutely nothing wrong with that, and the only people or governments that oppose this, is nothing short of jealousy,
And certainly envious that’s it .

This man needs to be thanked for speaking clearly - he recognizes that supporting Western values means supporting the end of the notion of sovereignty for weak countries. What he fails to understand however is that countries outside of the core zone of economic, political and military power, will always be, b/c of self-preservation instincts, anxious about foreign meddling in peripherical countries. Apart from some pro-US presidents in the 90s, the Brazilian government has been anti-interventionist for the last 50 years.
