Hague praises Brazil’s global presence and reaffirms British policy towards the Falklands
Britain's Foreign Secretary William Hague praised Brazil's growing economic and political power as he opened two days of talks with the country's leaders, and also assured that British policy on the Falkland Islands will not change despite pressure from Argentina. Read full article

Gente Linda, I have seen the TV GLOBO (Brazilian TV), where was discussed about Hague, the stupid moment for UK, without argument for anything and one of the journalist said: good moment to the Hague stayed in S.America and the Cameron said that “Argentina is Colonialist”... unbelievable (for the journalists). Hague went to Brazil for one reason - to try to convince Brazil to abandon its support for Argentina and Hague tried to use British support for Brazil's possible future seat on the Security Council as a bargaining chip and it didn't work.

Dross - Hague went to Brazil for one reason - to talk trade. Britain doesn't actually have the same fixation with the Falklands that Argentina does. Britain looks for markets. Always has. That was what the Empire was all about. Not conquest just for the sake of it.
