    Ahhhh, Mar del Plata. I contracted salmonella food poisoning there.

    I wonder if Argentina has moved away from egocentic thinking and realised the folly of upsetting their neighbours?

    Nah, it was just unfortunate. I went to dinner with some Argentine friends to a reputable fish restaurant (they claimed you have to book months in advance) and I was unlucky. Probably one employee being careless with hygiene; that's all. After a week in bed (in a Chilean hotel where they were simply brilliant!) and another 3 weeks of extremely bland food I was able to eat normally again.

    It can happen anywhere.

    I fail to see how, if O gaga's figures on auto exports to Brasil are corrext, that Argentina takes MORE in trade from Brasil? How does that happen?

    @6 I think O'Gara spends a lot of time drinking and shopping. Not much time for rational thought.

    @1 ElaineB,
    Been in a lot of countries & always tried to eat the local food.
    l must have a cast iron guts or strong stomach acid.

    Didn't get Delhi belly & ate some revolting things in the Philippines,
    BUT l came a cropper in Greece.
    The lsland of Corfu to be precise.
    lt was a salad in a nice hotel.
    lt took me weeks to recover. l sympathise with you.

    @9 It is not an upset stomach is it? I remember thinking I had the flu before it hit about 48 hours after the meal.

    You were caught out with a salad? Bad luck. It is always the nicer restaurants that seem to be the culprits.
