@4 Under your reckoning and logic, since we used to be colonialist, we must be now, and must still be in the same frame of mind, and that the Falklands must therefore be a colonial possession.

So does that mean that since you used to be a corrupt, and aggressive little state, that defaults on its loans, and was lead by an very angry bitter leader, that's policy on the Falklands failed, you still are ?

    @ 5

Malvinas is a colony. I don´t say so. The UN does. It´s a NON-SELF-GOVERNING TERRITORY.
    http://www.un.org/en/decolonization/nonselfgovterritories.shtml

The UK was and still is a “Cross colonial power in decline”. (You know the author)

Cameron calls Argentina colonialist... when colonialism is characteristic to the UK all along its history...

Islanders call Argentina “agresive” when they invaded the islands and expelled original population by the use of force.

It amazing. The UK is desperate and lacks arguments. Cameron only puts the UK in an isolated position. He´s rediculizing the UK.

The world knows the truth and backs Argentina.

Take a nervocalm an get over it, MR Cameron.

Also the Falkland Islanders or the UK government do not need to argue. The Falklands are British.
You decided to go to war and failed. Why on earth do you think your tactics now will succeed? Your tatic to convince the Falklander Islanders to become Spanish oh I mean Argentine has failed your argumentis therefore lacking. Back to the drawing board for you.

Malvinas are not British. Ask Latinamerica, Asia and Africa.

A dictatorship decided to go to war and failed.
We think diplomacy will succeed cos the world is not backing colonialism no more and the UK will be isolated in its position.

We don´t want to make them argentine. They already are, since they were born in Argentina, you smart boy. And if the nationality is the problem, then can stay British, who cares? We claim the islands are argentine. Islas argentinas, islanders british would be a good option. :)

    @6: Islas Falkland

The UK will carry on doing what it has been doing for decades. Just pottering around its territories in the South Atlantic looking after its interests and minding its own business. Meanwhile, the Falkland Islanders will be happily carrying on with their lives developing their extremely successful economy oblivious of all the insane and inane ranting across the water and secure in the knowledge that the UK is there to defend them if necessary, as is their right as a BOT.

Kind of sticks in your scraggy Argentinian craw, doesn't it.

@8 Islas Malvinas (#) But your missing one group of people out in that list, because they think they are British. And thats the ISLANDERS !!
Argentina only had them after they murdered the flag bearer who lived on the island and started an illegal occupation...

I think the fact that this is a good argument has you all reeling with frustration aha Cameron doesnt seem that bothered, but after he makes one little remark you all shite yourself and start crying aha

And btw a colony is different to a non-self governing territory. You just angry because it doesn't say Argentinian governed territory lol

    @ 10 Thor

The wishes of the islanders are not consider, as per UN.
The iligal ocupants are british, that explains Argentina´s international support. Don´t lie.
The UK does not want to talk about Malvinas cos it does not have much to say. And when Cameron speaks up, he makes the world laugh at him: first with the Full Stop, now with Argentina Colonialism. Give me a break!

The UN clearly states Malvinas is a colonial situation.

You only lie cos you don´t have arguments. You only have weapons.

Whos laughed at him ? Made up accounts ?
Where does it state that its a colonial situation ? We're not in the 19th century son, its the 21st. Its a territory that has its own autonomous people with its own governor, and you are not going to change that.

    @4 & 11

Your problem, stupid, is that you can't read and you don't listen. If you could do either you would be able to go through the Mercopress archives and read every single word published in favour of the Falkland Islanders having what they want and are entitled to and, in addition, every single word refuting argie mendacious claims.

Try to understand something once and for all. The UN doesn't matter. It's irrelevant. Please note how much attention you scumbags pay to the UN unless it suits you.
There were some illegal occupants. 30 years ago. But we stood up, as we will do again in the future, and kicked your sorry little asses off. That's what we do to trespassers. The UK has nothing to say about the “Malvinas” because they don't exist, you dumbbrain. There are some islands called the Falkland Islands on which the UK position is quite clear. The Falkland Islanders want to have as little to do with a bunch of mendacious, creepy, greasy, cheating dagoes and spics as possible.

And, as I pointed out, we don't give any more of a toss for the UN as you do.

But you're right. We do have weapons. Now here's a tip, dogs breath. Last time we arranged for 649 of your little kiddies not to come home. We arranged for them to “conquer” part of the Falkland Islands. They each got a piece 6 feet long, 2 feet wide and 6 feet deep. Except for the ones that weren't buoyant enough. They finished up as fish food.

Now if you want to come again, I'm in favour of increasing the figures for Round 2. I reckon we should make you pay a thousand times as many. And please don't make any mistakes. Last time we didn't have any cruise missiles. Last time we didn't bother with the mainland. Next time we will. They do say that if you want a sure kill, go for the head. Buenos Aires will be No. 1 target. Let's see how you like having your lives disrupted. Perhaps we'll land a division of Challenger 2 MBTs as well to rampage around a bit.

You want to play hardball, sonny? We'll show you how!

”Considering that its resolution 1514 (XV) of 14 December 1960 was prompted by the cherished aim of bringing to an end everywhere colonialism in all its forms, one of which covers the case of the Falkland Islands (Malvinas)”

Once Argentina decided to invade the Falkland Islands the previous UN resolutions became irrelavant. The matter was then resolved by military action. Just because Argentina illegally invaded the Falklands it cant say it's government was a dictatorship so that does not count.

The Falkland Islanders are British and certainly not Argentine. Just because your constitution says so does not mean a foreign land is yours.

Argentina has no rights over the Falkland Island. What planet are you on!
Argentina purely relies on another colonial powers occupation to justify it's so called rights to the Islands. Yet you now deny argentina has been or is involved in colonialism. By the way Spain continues to have colonies in North Africa.

I have no axe to grind with Argentina apart from this imperalistic attitude to the Islands that do not and have never been part of Argentina.

Ilas-M - you are another one of the Fantasy folk with this myth that all were expelled in 1833! Check the Records in Buenos Aires - As Well as in London! They will show you quite clearly that only the Militia from BA were expelled - all the settlers were invited to stay if they wished - and all did - apart from 2 couples - 1Uruguyan and 1 Brazillian.
As Thor points out - their prescence was again documented by Charles Darwin in the Beagle in 1845.
At least one of the ladies married a British settler - and thus the blood still runs in some Islanders today- who want NOTHING to do with Argentina - so now you see you have blood descended from Argentina telling you this as well!!
The last of those folks did about 1870 and is buried here in Stanley Cemetery.

I am happy to debate facts and sides of stories on here but am so sick of all the lies and bullshit - but I do feel for you - when you have decades of Senior Arg Govt officials shouting strings of lies - its natural that you start to believe them!
Like who would get any revenue from mineral resources!- FACT is and your President knows it as well - UK gets 0% - all accrues to the Elected Islands Govt, but the truth is not a good story - so she lies.

All the world, including United States, is requesting UK to negotiate with Argentina. Everybody know the lies of UK to steal territories. The self-dermination is another big lie.
Why United Kingdom does not allow Argentinean travel to live in the Islands? Of course, because they know that in this case a lot of Argentinean will travel to live there, and probably they will claim the Sovereignty of these territories. UK, only has the power to mantain there, a few islanders (around 2 thousand) to try to demostrate this “self-dermination”. Therefore it´s true some islanders don´t want to be Argentinean, but it is so because UK shut, during a lot of years, the frontiers of these Islands to the Argentinean, who are the real owners of these lands. Clearly the self- determination is a big lie, in these Islands there is a british colony as a consequence of stealing them, by UK.

”Last night former military top brass raised serious concerns about whether Britain would be able to defend the Falklands amid sweeping cuts to the Armed Forces.
General Sir Peter Whiteley, a former commandant general of the Royal Marines, said: ‘If the Argentines decided to invade again we could never consider trying to take them (the Falklands) back because of our lack of naval resources.
And Surgeon Rear Admiral Ralph Curr, the Royal Navy’s former medical director-general, added: ‘There’s no way we could defend the Falklands or re-engage the Argentines if it all happened again.’

However, these restrictions help to this keep big lie (self determination) of this country then in this case for UK it is important to be accomplished.

Guy s for those that do not know, Cameron actually called the National Security Council meeting after the intelligence services confrimed that argentina was planning a mock invasion of the islands, by sending fisher men to land on the falkland, south georgia and sandwich islands to raise the argentine flag. It was reported in The Sun this morning (a Major news paper in the UK and most popular) Such and act would be an act of war, if supported and arranged by Argentina governement, hence why they went over war plans and are actively now preparing for war with argentina in the event that Argentina continues with hostile acts against the islands.

Argentina you clearly forgot it was the raising of the argentine flag by a scrap metal worker on one of the islands that kicked off the 1982 war. Britain is now starting to growl back at you and we all know a lion always growls before it roars. We roared at you back in 1982 and you were sent packing, were now about to roar at you again and this time finish you off and ensure you are never a threat to the islanders and there right to self determination and to live in peace unhindered by you ever again. We Brits and islanders here have been warning you for over 2 years, but you did not listen and its clear that when you do finally start to listen it will be little to late for your precious country.

Despite what the boy from Brazil thinks, I don't see the Chilean or Brazilian fleets joining the Argentinians on this one. They want good relations with us if Argentina does not.

If they were to join in, we could invoke article 5 of our NATO membership that we are facing a major armed assault on our people and economic interests. We would probably get significant help. The last time article 5 was invoked was after 911.

The navies of South America would'nt last long against those of NATO, particularly the USNs carrier battlegroups.

If NATO failed to respond - we could take unilateral action.

I would recommend a declaration of war against the hostile alliance followed by a demand for unconditional surrender. Failure to comply would result in, as Truman said, “A rain of ruin” the likes of which the world has never seen before.

Follow this up with an airburst warhead high above South America to EMP the continent, to show we mean business.

In all out war, all bets are off. I would'nt care less how many of the other side died in the firestorms below the glowering mushroom clouds. I would go for military targets, but would accept the civilian losses as par for the course.

We are'nt living in a fantasy world, war is an ugly business. Chile and Brazil won't be sending ships because they don't care as much about the issue as you. Any other nations entering the fray would be an escalation that would alow us to invoke article 5, go look it up.

As to post 106 I think you'll find that despite the RN being smaller than it was, it still maintains the same tradition of victory that protected our home from the
likes of you for hundreds of years.

Besides the Sea Harriers and missile defences of the fleet decimating the FAA, while your navy was powerless against our SSNs, remember what happened to any Argentine naval unit we detected.....

Though I might be on the side of the UK in this matter I still have to admit that discussion along the lines of an historical argument are a waste of time in matters of international relations. They are only important for education.

What is important in this case is the reality of the here and now.

For that I would offer two glaring facts.

    1. The islanders don't want to be a part of a failed Latin American country with a history of bad decisions emanating from a people addicted to conformity bordering on autism and, of course, their famous psychotic arrogance.

    2. Argentina cannot back up it's claims on the island with military force.

Let's add another, really important fact.

Today one of the most important problems facing important countries, like the USA, China, India, Japan, the EU is

    Resource Scarcity.

So they are all in search of

    Resource Rich

    parts of the world.

    Argentina is one of them.

So what you have is a situation where ALL of the Big Boys are in desperate need of the fundamentals of daily living, Food, as in Fish, and Soya, Wheat, Corn, Beef, Energy, as in Oil, and, of course, Water.

Argentina has all of these things and does not manage them well, because they are, Argentinians.

Do you think the US, UK, EU, China, Japan, India, are going to let some pip-squeek piece of a nothing country stand in the way of what they ALL desperately need?

    OF COURSE NOT!!!!!!

They are going to divide the spoils.

Those are the facts that spell the future of Argentina.

And that these facts are unpleasant to some Argentinians, and can't be faced by most, is a matter of complete indifference to the countries in question who need what Argentina has.

    Chau y Bueno Suerte Argentina!

At the time Argentina claimed to have damaged or sunk virtualy every ship in the task force, some were even sunk twice.

Argentina also shot down twice as many aircraft as the British had in theatre.

When the British landed at San Carlos, Argentina claimed they were “thrown back into the sea with heavy losses”, according to the British they landed 6,000 men in a night without a single casualty.

In fact Argentina was winning the war right up untill they surrendered.

The ships used to repatriate the Argeninian troops after the surrender were all ship they claimed to have sunk.

You wonder why the British don't believe anything you say.

''How is Argentina different in your charge of “murder” against natives''

No different, except that Argentina wants to turn the clock back to 1833 to right a past grievance. None of those countries is accusing anyone of 'piracy' and being 'squatters'.
The rest of the world accepts that things move on, things happened in history that wouldn't happen now, but you can't put them 'right' by persecuting remote descendents 200 years later.
All we are saying is that if you want to go back to 1833, you will find yourselves with a few issues of your own to deal with. It would be the fair thing to do.

The future is now what counts,
The islanders have stated publicly and to the UN and to the free world, that they freely wish to be British, and that really is the end of it, is it not,
They will remain British ,until they other wise change their minds,
Argentina on the other hand, can either dwell on the past, or catch up with modern democracies and understandings, and either except their decision, or take it to the ICJ ,

I'll just say something, they can shout from the rooftops all you want but will never be an independent state that simply never happen. They can not say the same for British protection, they tell you to always protect but history teaches us otherwise. Hong Kong was ceded to China even against the will of its inhabitants, because the contract only corresponded to the mainland from Hong Kong and the island could remain under the British administration. I think you will find that the early settlers were not American descendants at all, do some reading and get yourself educated, not brain washed. It's very convenient for the Argentines to harp on about their early claim and having a population in the Falklands Islands in 1833 when the British kicked them out. They were NOT Argentine because Argentina did not exist then and were not exactly what i would call a thriving community of any sort, they were an overrun Spanish penial colony, and an illegal one as far as Britain were concerned.
There are now up to 9 generations at least amongst the Falkland Islanders, i can't remember reading anything about any generations of any Spanish people or otherwise ever settling there, just convicts and associated staff. Do come back to me if you have anything else to convince me that the Falkland Islanders have no right to self determination, until then shut up! you mention people shouting from the rooftops, all the Argentines ever do is shout , like a spoilt child who is never going to get it's own way! deal with it!

LONG LIVE THE BRITISH FALKLAND ISLANDS
